Visit Serian's Nkorombo Camp

Set in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve on a private site on the Mara River, Nkorombo is a high-quality tented mobile safari camp in the prestigious Alex Walker collection. It is adjacent to a salt lick that regularly hosts black rhino, lion and leopard, and it overlooks the river with its hippos and crocodiles.

The area is unrivalled for game-viewing with an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area.

The location gives guests a front-row seat for viewing East Africa’s Great Migration between June and November when the wildebeest and zebra make their crossings of the Mara River just metres away.

A combination of the plethora of wildlife and attractive riverside scenery is especially suited to photographers. The camp has hosted eminent film-makers from the BBC such as Jonathan Scott and many celebrated photographers including National Geographic’s Frans Lanting.

Accommodation

The camp has been cleverly designed to blend seamlessly into the surroundings. There are just five spacious Selous style safari tents in a traditional safari style with comfortable beds, carpets and tray tables. Each tent has en suite facilities with flush toilets and bucket showers.

High quality meals are either at camp or are taken as picnics out in the bush. The Serian safari experience includes premium open-top safari vehicles with expert guide / spotter and sundowners at scenic view-points overlooking the plains.

Activities

A safari experience at Serian includes high quality game drives, expert guides / spotters with unrivalled knowledge of the flora and fauna and exclusive use of premium open-top vehicles.

Bush breakfasts or lunches in the serenity of the wilderness can be arranged as can wonderful sundowners in scenic locations, cultural visits and fishing trips.

Nkorombo’s cosiness makes it perfect for exclusive use and it is ideal to combine with other camps in the Alex Walker collection, such as the unique The Nest Treehouse, Serian Camp or Ngare Serian Camp for the added benefit of walking safaris and night drives in exclusive areas of wilderness.

For the ultimate “in the wilds” adventure, why not experience a night in a tree, under a star-filled African sky? Immerse yourself in the peace and serenity of a private tree house with nothing between you and the heavens but a canopy of rustling leaves and moonshine.

‘The Nest’ compliments the prestigious Alex Walker collection of camps and is perched out on a limb in a lone Warburgia tree overlooking the Mara River, close to Serian and Ngare Serian Camps.

With two double nest-shaped beds plus space for a couple of bedrolls, The Nest can work either as a romantic overnight tryst for two or as an amazing sleepover for an adventurous family or group of friends.

Set in 1500 acres of exclusive conservation area adjoining the private Mara North Conservancy, there is space and freedom to roam and explore as you wish. Night-vision cameras are installed so you don’t miss the activity of nocturnal animals.
