Porini Giraffe Camp
The small and intimate Porini Giraffe Camp is in a forested area of Camphor bush (African Wild Sage or called Leleshwa in Kenya) and Yellow Bark Acacia along the Ripole River in the Mara Ripoi Conservancy. This exclusive game-rich 13,500 acre wildlife conservancy is comprised of beautiful hills, forests and open plains and is home to a large abundance of wildlife including the big cats. The conservancy connects onto Siana conservancy and then directly to the Mara Reserve and so allowing free movement of wildlife from the Reserve as well as through a wildlife corridor along the Ripole River to Ol Kinyei Conservancy.  Guests will also have access to the Mara Reserve and also Ol Kinyei Conservancy.
Porini Giraffe Camp has 8 guest tents and offers a personal and authentic experience for a safari in the Masai Mara, providing a great alternative to the large mass-market tourist lodges. The camp has a dining tent and separate comfortable lounge all located along the Ripole river. The camp welcomes children aged 8 years and over (see Prices Information for more details).
The camp provides guests with the opportunity to stay at a truly eco-friendly bush camp where there are no permanent structures and there is minimal impact on the environment.
This 13,500 acre Kenyan wildlife conservancy is on a tranche of land belonging to a Maasai community who have leased it to us for the purposes of wildlife conservation.
Mara Ripoi Conservancy is home to only 3 small camps (including Porini as a founding member) and no other tourist vehicles are allowed into the Conservancy, so our guests have the thousands of acres in the conservancy to themselves.
For guests staying at Porini Giraffe Camp, we can arrange to book return flights from Nairobi to the nearby  airstrip using the daily scheduled services of Safarilink, one of Kenya’s leading safari airlines, at the applicable air fares.

However, should guests wish to include a visit to the reserve this can be pre-booked with the additional park entry charge applicable (currently $100 per person for 2024 low season & $200 per person for 2024 high season, subject to change). A Jewel
Fantastic experience, the conservancy is teeming with wildlife in large numbers and we had tonnes of sittings including lions and hyenas eating, as well as many buffalo, warthog, giraffe, zebra, various antelope and more. The camp is small but perfectly formed and beautifully located on the bank of a river surrounded by lush green. We could see zebra and giraffe right from our tent on occaision, and many birds and butterflies which was lovely after coming from a camp in a much drier and duster landscape. The tent was smaller than the other camps but it helped keep the heat in at night. Really lovely, interesting and friendly all Maasai staff. Highly recommended.
Paul S - Jul 2024
Another Great Porini Camp
Giraffe Camp has eight guest tents, a large common dining tent and a large lounge tent. The camp is located in a wildlife conservancy. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The meals are surprising good. Loved the field breakfasts after some early morning game watching. There is plenty of wildlife to see. Including Masai giraffe, gazelle, hippo, zebra, warthogs, eland, topi (blue pants yellow sox), lions, cheetahs, elephants and more. The tent is roughly 10’ by 18’ (3 m by 5.5 m) with a covered patio area. Bedding is comfortable. Hot water is carried in for the shower, so it has to be arranged with the staff. We arranged an hour-long nature walk before sunset with two staff members as guides. Another great Porini Camp
Richard D - Mar 2024
Could be our new favourite.
Back again for our 8th trip to Kenya 6th with Gamewatchers. We stayed at 4 porini camps and we thought we would try the new giraffe camp. All the staff and guides were fantastic and it was great to see the manager Jimmy again. The tents although smaller than in the other camps were very comfortable. Great camp well worth a visit.
