Super Safari
Edward M - July 2026
Perfect. Saw the Big Five. Great accommodations and wonderful and helpful staff. Could not be better!
Amazing location, great staff.
Been_There_Done_This - June 2026
Well managed bush eco-camp that gives you the feel of true immersive wilderness with excellent room and food service. Food served in community style was excellent. So was the service we received from our room staff - Amos. However, the main highlight of our stay was extraordinary big cat encounters in all our game drive. Wilfred and Dan made sure we get the best of our game drives. They drove us to the edge of the conservancy. We saw lions in all our day and night time game drives in addition to Cheetah, Leopard and many other exciting animal encounters.
Fantastic experience
Lynne W - March 2026
Lion Camp was absolutely incredible. It is quite a small camp, the tents are spaced out and there was water near our tent and regularly heard hippos at night bathing. We felt so safe especially at night because there were brilliant security guides with torches to escort us. The tents are so lovely and comfortable and there is also a communal lounge where WiFi is available. The food is fabulous too which we ate in the dining tent with other guests which was lovely because we could speak about our experiences together. Our guides Dennis & Dan were incredible, their knowledge and driving skills just astounded us and because of them we got to see the most amazing sights so close up, we still can’t believe how the animals don’t take any notice of the trucks and that is because of the trust and respect the guides and the animals have for each other. All the people at Lion Camp made us feel so welcome and a special shout-out to Pilori the manager, who was always around if we needed anything, she is so lovely and always smiling. We will always remember our trip to Lion Camp, it was AMAZING!
Best Vacation Ever!
MAcheatel - February 2026
Porini Lion camp was absolutely wonderful. There are 10 tents, a lounge tent, a media tent, and a dining tent. Meals were prepared for a group of people, but were delicious. The staff was extremely kind and saw to our every need. Our personal tent was beautiful and very roomy. Our Masai guide and spotter were absolutely fantastic. We were fortunate to see a magnificent Leopard for at least a half an hour, a Hyena den with several pups, a stand off between a cheetah and a Hyena, a Hyena with part of a kill trying to thwart a Jackal from stealing it, along with numerous Lions and Elephants.
Truly immersive wildlife experience!
Urvi - February 2026
Porini truly knows how to make every moment of your stay and game drives memorable. Their work is inspiring, and the staff offer exceptional hospitality. These are people who constantly strive to exceed your expectations and imagination. During game drives, their precision and deep understanding of nature allow you to experience wildlife in its truest form. No one delivers such an intense and immersive wildlife experience quite like Porini. Kudos to their years of responsible practices and for setting the right example of how wildlife tourism should be done.

Choose a local safari expert and start planning.

If you only do one lion safari in your life, make it count.

Planning your dream safari can be stressful, and you certainly don’t want it spoiled by crowds, tight schedules, or an over-commercialised, touristy feel. Many other tour operators do, unfortunately, offer trips just like this.

Our Porini Lion Camp is different. Located on private conservationist land deep into prime predatory habitats, not peripheral areas. Porini Lion Camp is set within one of the Mara’s most active lion territories. You won’t be driving hours to find lions; instead, you’ll wake up each morning to find you’re already in their home range.

Porini Lion Camp gives you the greatest opportunity to encounter lions in the wild.

Nestled on the banks of the seasonal Ntiakatiak River, Porini Lion Camp, based at the exclusive Olare Motorogi Conservancy, offers 33,000 acres of pristine wilderness and front‑row access to the Maasai Mara’s big cats and exceptional wildlife encounters.

With only nine tents and two family units, Porini Lion Camp promises an intimate, authentic stay where you feel completely immersed in the wild, not just observing it.

Our conservancies aren’t bound by strict national park hours or limiting rules. You’ll stay in true lion territory, guided by experts who track prides daily and know the animals by name. With few vehicles and access during the exact times lions are most active, our guests often enjoy multiple lion sightings per stay with us.

Here’s a taste of what you can experience on our Kenya luxury lion safaris:

In short, you’ll be staying in a private, wildlife-rich area right next to the Maasai Mara, but without the crowds.

Eco Tented Camp
100% solar-powered and Gold Eco-Rated for its commitment to sustainable tourism.

10 guest tents and 2 family units for an intimate, low-footprint safari experience.

Built using low-impact materials with a leave-no-trace design that protects the environment.

Central media tent, lounge tent, and dining tent offer comfort, connection, and panoramic savannah views in a relaxed communal setting

Unspoiled Wilderness
Located in the 33,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy, offering big cat encounters in a predator-rich landscape.

Strict vehicle limits ensure peaceful, crowd-free game viewing and pristine natural surroundings.

Diverse habitats include river gorges, open plains, acacia woodland, and riverine forest—home to abundant wildlife.

Safari Activities
Day & night game drives led by expert KPSGA-certified Maasai guides

Guided bush walks to learn tracks, plants, and wildlife up close.

Enhance your adventure with optional balloon safaris, bush breakfasts, night drives and magical sundowners.

Community Initiatives
Tourism directly funds land leases, supporting Maasai landowners in protecting wildlife habitats.

Guests have the opportunity to support community initiatives through the Wildlife Habitat Trust, which funds projects focused on education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods. Every contribution goes entirely to the projects, ensuring direct and meaningful impact.

The camp provides employment, education, and healthcare support to surrounding Maasai communities.

An Unforgettable Maasai Mara Safari with Gamewatchers We had an absolutely incredible safari experience in the Maasai Mara with Gamewatchers. From beginning to end, the whole trip was beautifully organized, and the team made our time in Kenya truly unforgettable. A huge thank you to Wycliffe, Wayne, Sammy, James, Stanley, Joseph and Anthony. Everyone was warm, knowledgeable, professional and genuinely passionate about the Mara and its wildlife. The game viewing was spectacular. We saw so many cats — lions, cheetahs and leopards — and every drive seemed to bring another amazing encounter. One of the biggest highlights was witnessing the wildebeest crossing, an experience we will never forget. What really made the safari special, though, were the people. Their knowledge, patience and enthusiasm added so much to every sighting and every day. Thank you, Gamewatchers, for an extraordinary Maasai Mara adventure. We came hoping for a great safari and left with memories that will stay with us forever. Highly recommended!

Best family safari experience we’ve had From the very beginning, Gamewatchers exceeded our expectations. Rick McIntyre listened to exactly what I wanted for this trip with my children and built an itinerary that balanced adventure, wildlife, comfort, and authentic experiences. Every camp—Nairobi Tented Camp, Elewana Tortilis in Amboseli, Porini Rhino Camp, and Porini Mara Camp—was excellent in its own way. What impressed me most was the logistics. Transfers, flights, guides, luggage, arrivals, departures—everything was handled for us. I could completely let go, stop managing details, and simply enjoy Kenya with my kids. Even when plans changed unexpectedly, the team immediately found solutions and made sure we were taken care of. Every guide, driver, and staff member was warm, professional, and genuinely kind. My son said it best: “This is the best vacation we’ve ever had.” We travel a lot, so that says everything. I would absolutely recommend Gamewatchers and would travel with them again.

Second trip as a great as the first! This is the second time we have used Gamewatchers on a visit to Kenya. Both times we were very pleased. Everyone who planned our trips were patient and kind and even changed our itinerary when asked. Both time we stayed at the Porini Camps as well as other hotels that were recommended by Gamewatchers The drivers we had on excursions were professional and always flexible. We had wonderful guides and drivers at the Porini Camps who are very knowledgeable and friendly. The food at the camp is delicious and the camp managers and staff did a great job of making sure we were comfortable. If we are lucky enough to return, we will be using Gamewatchers for our travel needs. I highly recommend them!

Extremely professional company We have travelled with Gamewatchers and Porini Camps a number of times and the fact that we keep going back speaks for itself I think. Using one of their dedicated booking agents makes the whole process very easy as you are able to plan your safari and are not restricted to a set itinerary . This safari we stayed at Porini Amboseli and Porini Cheetah.

Amazing experience - Big 5 and wild dogs so much more!! Our 10 day trip with Gamewatchers was amazing! Our travel consultant, Rick, was super helpful and knowledgeable in planning our two safari camp experience (Porini Rhino and Porini Mara) followed by a few days at Diani Beach. The family tent worked out great for us. The staffs at both camps were friendly and very accommodating to dietary restrictions. We felt very special having Porini Mara camps to ourselves, with no other guests. Likewise, Porini Rhino had only one other family. What an absolute wonderful vacation! The guides (Alfred and Fred) at Porini Rhino were excellent. They were very knowledgeable about animals, flora and fauna and went above and beyond. We were very fortunate to see the wild dogs at Porini Rhino camp. We knew it was a special event to see the wild dogs when the guides pulled out their phones to take pictures! We would highly recommend GameWatchers Safaris! They took excellent care of us from our arrival flight to departure flight!

A wonderful safari in Tanzania We thoroughly enjoyed our safari at two Asanja camps in Tanzania…Asanja Moru and Asanja Grumeti. Our driver, Mubarak, was extremely knowledgeable and provided an exceptional experience. We were so fortunate to see everything except the Black Rhino. The staff at both camps looked after us very well with their great service. We particularly loved their singing and dancing. Esther is a great masseuse at Grumeti camp … I would highly recommend booking one when you are there. A safari with Gamewatchers is very well organised and runs so smoothly. Hopefully we can do another safari with them in the future.

fabulous safari company I can't say enough good things about our safari with Gamewatchers! The guides were experts on the wildlife. They knew where to find the animals and where their territories are. They spotted an owl you would never find on your own and a gazelle giving birth, not to mention cheetahs and a leopard with her cub, and lions sleeping and eating. They were very friendly and professional and accommodated all our requests, and helped us get the best photos. The staff in the camps were also excellent. They met every need and request - such as extra hot water bottles. The jeeps were open for the best viewing. While it was chilly in the early morning and evening, they had flannel lined ponchos in the jeeps. The afternoon drive usually left the camp around 4 pm, and they provided a "sundowner" stop with the drink of your choice and snacks to watch the sundown. The Cheetah camp doesn't do laundry because the water is too brackish, but in the Lion camp they hand washed whatever we gave them, apart from underthings, but there is laundry detergent in the room to do those yourself. The camps are in the conservancy and we had monkeys in the camp, zebras right in front and we had a close encounter with an elephant not far from our tent. The tents were large, and the beds and bedding very comfortable. While there isn't running hot water, you just notify them when you want a shower and they bring it in buckets. They also provide an early morning wake up call, and bring coffee, tea, or hot chocolate with a couple of cookies, at your request, to your tent. The meals were communal and delicious. They also picked us up at the airport, and brought us to the hotel in Nairobi at the end. And for an extra fee, they took us to the Giraffe Center in Nairobi, to feed the giraffes, an amazing introduction!
