Explore Africa as a solo traveller with expertly planned safaris, experienced guides and the choice of private adventures or sociable small group travel.

The River Camp - Sundowners

Travelling alone does not mean experiencing Africa alone. A solo safari offers the freedom to explore at your own pace while enjoying the reassurance of expert planning, experienced guides and carefully arranged travel throughout your journey.

Whether you prefer a private tailor-made safari designed entirely around your interests or the opportunity to join a small group of like-minded travellers, we can help you find the experience that suits you best. From Kenya’s wildlife-rich conservancies and the vast plains of Tanzania to Southern Africa’s remarkable wilderness areas, there are countless ways to explore independently.

Our experienced Safari Specialists can take care of every detail, from accommodation and transfers to expert guiding and activities, giving you the confidence to relax and enjoy your adventure. A solo safari can be as sociable or as independent as you want it to be.

Planning and booking a trip with Gamewatchers is always a pleasure and my recent trip was another great experience. As a solo, female traveller in my seventies, safety and comfort is a concern and as always Gamewatchers made sure everything went smoothly. I spent two days in Tsavo East staying at Satao Camp, and two days in Tsavo West, staying at Severin Camp. My driver, Lenny made sure my trip was a great experience and he was good company. The rest of my trip was spent revisiting favourite Porini camps - Porini Amboseli Camp at Selenkay Conservancy and Porini Cheetah Camp at Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Wildlife viewing and food was excellent throughout. In particular, elephants, birds, lions, leopard and cheetah did not disappoint.

Porini Camps are small and intimate, there are communal dinners, guided drives, shared sundowners, and opportunities to meet other travellers (or simply enjoy solitude). This balance works well if you’re a solo traveller – as well as no signal supplements for certain times of the year!
