This small and intimate safari eco- camp is located within Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a vast 90000-acre wildlife area between the Aberdares and the majestic Mount Kenya. The conservancy is home to a variety of animals including the “Big Five”. It is the largest sanctuary in East Africa for the endangered Black Rhino and is also a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees.

Porini Rhino Camp is in a secluded valley, on the banks of a seasonal river and under the shade of acacia trees. The Kenyan safari camp in Ol Pejeta consists of just nine spacious and comfortable guest tents, each having been carefully sited to take advantage of the wonderful surrounding views. Each tent is tastefully furnished and has solar-power lighting and ensuite hot shower and flush toilet. The camp is specially designed to have minimum environmental impact (with no permanent structures and using eco-friendly fuel).
The newest tents are the family units that are H shaped and made of high quality canvas, they are very spacious, each wing measuring 64 square metres and the lounge is 16 square metres. Each of the 2 units consists of two rooms with a lounge in between. Each of the two rooms has a king size bed and a single bed, The high-quality, spacious tents are tastefully furnished and have solar-powered lighting, ensuite facilities (with hot shower and flush toilet) and a private veranda. The family units are ideal for families or group of friends traveling together and are at the same price per person as our other tents. The camp welcomes children aged 8 years and over.
The camp has the benefit of a wildlife viewing hide which enables guests to observe and photograph wildlife safely, yet in close proximity. The hide has been carefully placed to enhance wildlife-viewing right in front of camp, and with the peaceful setting and the animals freely strolling in, guests can really immerse themselves in the surroundings and feel part of nature.
The safari camp is fully inclusive of meals, drinks (gin & tonics, beer, wine, sodas and mineral water) as well as day and night shared game drives, escorted walks, sundowners, a visit to Baraka the Black Rhino & Information Centre and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
The Conservancy ensures excellent game-viewing and safari game drives – with “proper” open-sided, off-road (4×4) safari vehicles and expert safari guides.
In addition to the activities mentioned above (game drives, walks, sundowners) there are a number of other optional activities which can be booked, with the income contributing to the Conservancy’s running costs: The Endangered Species Boma and Lion Tracking.
Porini Rhino Camp is helping accomplish the Conservancy’s aims of generating profits from wildlife tourism for reinvesting into community development in the local area. The camp staff are drawn from different Kenyan communities including members of the Maasai community from our conservancy projects at Selenkay in Amboseli and Olkinyei and Olare Motorogi in the Mara. The camp adheres to strict eco-friendly and responsible eco tourism principles.
Limited laundry is available at no charge. Laundry is done by hand and dried outdoors, therefore turnaround time is dependent on the weather. Out of respect to local culture and customs, we do not wash underwear. Washing powder is provided in all of our guest rooms should guests wish to wash their own.

Fly to Nanyuki from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport, arriving approx. 12.40pm. Met at the airstrip by your Porini driver and transfer to Porini Rhino Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Enjoy lunch and afternoon tea in camp and then take an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 2
A full day in Ol Pejeta Conservancy with game drives and an escorted walk from camp. After dinner take a night game drive in search of the area’s nocturnal animals. Overnight at camp.
Day 3
Transfer from camp to Nanyuki airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi (or on to the Mara).

Eco camp is amazing!
Wow!! What a great place to stay and explore Ol Pejeta from. Camp manager David runs a great camp where you are catered to at every turn. Their watering hole allows some up close views of animals that come to drink from it. My first afternoon I saw like 15 elephants visiting it. You can also check out their hide for a stunningly close view of the animals that come to the hole. 2 game drives a day allow for amazing animal encounters and Sam and Ben did an awesome job of finding me my favorites. From a pride of 20 lions to herds of elephants to giraffes and more, each drive saw tons of different species of animals. And if rhinos are your thing, Ol Pejeta is the location for you.

What an experience! Wonderful game watching. John and frank were a great driver/ spotter team. Camp manager, degee kept everything running smoothly Camp located in the Ol pejeta conservancy. Saw rhino, lions, elephants, impala, Cape buffalo, giraffes, gazelle, wart hogs, cheetah. Many birds. Competent caring staff. Good food. Seriously ate lunch watching giraffes and drank hot chocolate at our tent watching an elephant walk by. It was cold at night and we appreciated the hot water bottles that were placed in the bed Can I go back today?
Great camp
We stayed here for 3 nights in late October 2024. There was a very pleasant atmosphere at the camp, created by the relief manager, Edwin, who was very sociable and joined everyone around the campfire when we had pre-dinner drinks each evening. We had great service from all the staff. The highlights of this camp are the waterhole, right in front of the main tent, and the game viewing hide which is well placed for wildlife photography at the waterhole. Definitely recommended.

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy was amazing. the wildlife viewing here was even better than I expected. Porini Rhino Camp was very nice and you were right in the thick of it. at night you and to be escorted to your room bc there is so much wildlife in the area. Our guide Peterson and tracker Fred did a very good job. we had so much great, memorable experiences thanks to them.I'd definitely return here.
Memorable Kenya
Unbelievable experience with a wide variety of wild animals encountered. Rhinos were evident in multiple areas along with numerous other animals. Accommodations and food were excellent and the staff were all extremely helpful and well organized. We felt totally safe the entire visit and I took too many pictures!

This was an amazing experience. The staff, guides and overall experience far exceeded my expectations. It was our first time in Africa and it won't be our last! The tents are very nice, comfortable and well appointed.The food was also excellent!

Rhino Camp was a great experience. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck when we returned from morning safari and watching the animals at the watering hole. So many animals were viewable on our safari and our guides and driver got us as close as possible to all we saw. The afternoon safaris always ended with watching the sun set over the plains full of animals. We even followed a male lion as the sunset to get excellent pictures. As the name states Rhino camp showed us several rhinos and we even had an opportunity to see the last 2 remaining Northern White Rhinos. The staff and director of the camp were very friendly and helpful,

Rhino Camp is where to go to see rhinos. Of course we also saw all kinds of wildlife during the game drives including some we hadn't really expected to see - an eagle-owl and a fish eagle (called a bald eagle in some countries. Both birds were very close, The drivers and game spotters at each camp made sure they knew what we interested in. Finding all is, of course, somewhat a matter of luck. The animals move around day to day and season to season. But the driver/spotter teams know the areas where they work and can usually find what you want to see as well as wildlife you didn't expect to see. At Rhino camp what we saw included rhinos,elephants, Cape Buffalo, lions, impalas and many other animals. And we can't forget all the people we met who worked at the camp and made our trip one we will always remember We don't hesitate in recommending Gamewatchers for a great safari experience in Africa.
