“The Fairview is that rare bird in Africa – a comfortable hotel that hasn’t decked itself out in feathers of upmarket gloss and tasteless luxury. The hotel’s leafy acres and scattered buildings are laid out on Nairobi Hill, a world away from the overheated bustle…” – Elle Magazine.
The Fairview is the only family-owned, family-run hotel in the 4 and 5 star hotel category in Nairobi. The hotel is set within 5 acres of beautiful gardens and located near the city centre but yet away from the hustle and bustle. This accommodation offers excellent amenities for the business and leisure traveller alike.
The Fairview was acquired by the Szlapak family in 1946. At that time, the hotel had only 40 rooms. Since then, the hotel has grown to just over 100 rooms and, as a result, the hotel offers a wide range of room alternatives as well as a good range of facilities.
Facilities & Activities
Swimming Pool & Gym
The Bridge to Fitness has a wonderful view of the pool area and contains the latest equipment by LifeFitness: 2 treadmills, a recumbent exercise bike, a cross trainer, a rowing machine, basic weights, leg press calf extention, a Multi-Gym and a few other of the basics. The gym is only open to hotel and Apartment residents.
Situated near the gym, the Fairview’s attractive swimming pool is for residents only and is open from 7.00 am to 6.30pm daily.
Internet access in the rooms
There are 2 options for guests requiring internet access in the rooms. The first is wireless access (Wi-Fi). 90% of the rooms enjoy Wi-Fi access so please check with Reception to determine whether wi-fi is available in your room. The second option is a wired ethernet connection – unfortunately only 6 rooms have this option so please request it on check-in and the hotel will do their best to oblige.
First Class Lounge
Guests in our First Class rooms enjoy complimentary access to the lounge. The lounge is located above the breakfast area and is open between 6:30 a.m and 11:00 p.m. In the Lounge one can enjoy complimentary access to 2 PCs, a range of papers and magazines, coffee and tea all day long and various other benefits.
Dining
As a family-run hotel, the Fairview aims to ensure that food is not standard hotel food but rather has a ‘home cooked’ touch – tasty, comforting and ample. There is a great range of dining alternatives.
The Pwani Pool Restaurant
The Pwani Pool Restaurant, adjoining the swimming pool, offers a full range of international cuisine in a casual environment. Its bar is a favourite with residents in the evening.
The Mukutan Garden Café
The Mukutan Garden Café is without a doubt the best place in Upper Hill (perhaps all of Nairobi) for top-notch coffees and light / quick meals such as gourmet sandwiches, pizzas and quesadillas.
Pango Brasserie
The classiest dining experience Nairobi has to offer. Its star attraction is an underground wine-bar where drinks are served before dinner.
