Day 1 – WINDHOEK

After landing at Windhoek’s International Hosea Kutako Airport, about 40 km outside of Windhoek, you will be met by our Safari representative who will transfer you to Galton House.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and recuperate from your flight.

You will then meet your Safaris guide for dinner and a safari briefing.

Overnight Galton House

Day 2 – SOSSUSVLEI

This morning your Safaris Guide will collect you from your Galton House. You then depart Windhoek in your safari vehicle and drive southwest through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands before heading down the Great Escarpment into the Namib Desert below, stopping for a picnic lunch at a scenic location along the way.
You arrive at Camp Sossus in the mid afternoon, where you will stay for three nights whilst you explore the remarkable sights of the Namib Desert with your private guide.
If there is still time today, your guide will take you to visit Sesriem Canyon, a nearby geological attraction, or explore Elim Dune. However, if you prefer, you can just relax and soak in the scenic and tranquil surroundings at the Lodge.

Overnight Camp Sossus
Luxury Tent (Accommodation, all meals, and selected local drinks.)

Day 3 – SOSSUSVLEI

This morning you will rise early for a magical excursion into the Namib Naukluft National Park, entering the Park gates at sunrise to capture the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate their towering shapes and curves. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world. Your guide will give you an insight on the formation of the Namib Desert and its myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh environs.

Once you have explored the areas around Sossusvlei and Deadvlei to your hearts content you can enjoy a picnic in the shade of a camel thorn tree. Return to Camp Sossus in the early afternoon for a late lunch. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure (from experience, this is usually welcomed after an exhilarating morning in the dunes) or can be spent on another guided scheduled activity within the nature reserve as offered by the lodge.

Overnight Camp Sossus
Luxury Tent (Accommodation, all meals, and selected local drinks.)

Day 4 – SOSSUSVLEI

At optional extra costs, you can have the choice of an early morning start with a memorable balloon flight over the Namib Desert (this will be reconfirmed a day prior). You will be transferred before sunrise to the launch site, which is about 45 minutes’ drive from the lodge (depending on the launch site for that day).

At sunrise, in the world’s oldest desert, witness a spectacular hot air balloon inflation, and set out on the flight of a lifetime.

It is an experience like no other, the experience of a lifetime.

Your day will be spend on leisure and relaxation at Camp Sossus or you can embark any of the scheduled shared activities as offered by the camp. Activities on offer included guided walks, mountain biking, nature drives and stargazing.

Day 5 - SOSSUSVLEI - SWAKOPMUND

The fascinating drive today takes you northwest through awesome and ever changing desert landscapes of the Namib Naukluft National Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons. You will meet the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay and then continue north to Swakopmund where you can enjoy the pleasant seaside location and cooler coastal air for your next three nights. There will be time this afternoon to explore the town and wander along the waterfront on foot, before heading off for dinner at a popular restaurant with a reservation at The Tug, which specializes in locally harvested seafood.

Luxury Room (Bed & Breakfast)

Days 6 & 7 - SWAKOPMUND

Two full days at your leisure to explore Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and surrounding areas. You may like to climb the coastal dunes at Langstrand or Dune 7, explore Swakopmund’s shops, cafe’s, museums and waterfront, or partake in any of the adventure activities on offer such as sand-boarding, boat cruises, kayaking, walking Foodie Tour, fatbike dune cycle tours and scenic flights (all at extra cost).

We recommend joining a morning dolphin and seal catamaran cruise or kayaking excursion on the Walvis Bay harbour and lagoon this morning, where you will see seals, pelicans, and flamingos amongst other marine life, and hopefully you will also see Heaviside and Bottlenose dolphins.

Another option would be to explore the desert area by taking part in the fascinating and informative “Living Desert Tour”. This Desert Tour concentrates on exploring the local dune belt between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, taking special care not to damage the gravel plains and cause any unnecessary damage to the dune eco-system.

Also highly recommended is a half or full day excursion into Sandwich Harbour, the most important wetlands and feeding area on the west coast of Southern Africa for many migratory birds.

Luxury Room (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 8 - WINDHOEK

After an early breakfast, depending on your departure flight, you leave the coast behind and head inland via the small towns of Usakos, Karibib and Okahandja. Time depending, you can stop off for lunch en route and should arrive in Windhoek in the mid to late afternoon.

Upon your arrival in Windhoek you go directly to Hosea Kutako Airport to ensure time to check in for departure or transfer to your overnight accommodation in Windhoek.
