Located in South West Africa, bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and inland by 4 other African countries – South Africa to the South, Botswana to the East, Angola to the North and Zambia to the North East.

Namibia is easily accessible for travel and due to its location, it is also a great destination to twin with it’s neighbouring countries. Visitors can access Windhoek, the capital, from international airlines flying directly from Europe and other African destinations,

Namibia is a year-round travel destination and is said to have over 300 days of sunshine. Being in the Southern Hemisphere, summer months are Oct-April where daytime temperatures can exceed 35-40°C and winter months May-Sept where they can be from 18-22°C during the day.  Night time temperatures can be cold, especially in winter where the temperature can drop below zero.

Known as one of the most arid countries in Southern Africa, Namibia however does have two main rainy seasons during the summer months; there are short rains between Sep-Nov and the main rainy season between Dec-Apr.

With good infrastructure, self-driving is an option for those who are on more of a budget or who wish to explore in their own vehicle – however during the rainy periods it is advised to be an experienced driver in these sorts of conditions.  Flying safaris are also a very popular way to explore this country, as scenically from the air it offers much to see as well as cutting down the long travel time by road, thus maximising your time spent at a particular area rather than travelling.

Namibia offers a sense of space and wilderness, visitors can really experience the getting away from it all here. Current indications show that in 2023 Namibia’s population stands at an estimated 2.6 million people, which is a current population density of just 3.16 people per km2, one of the lowest in the world, you really can escape from it all in this beautiful destination.
