Visit Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort is located on the shores of Lake Naivasha, On the floor or the Rift Valley.  Lake Naivasha is one of  the two fresh water lakes of the Rift Valley  in Kenya, the other being Lake Baringo.  The lake measures approximately 177sq kms in size and is an ornithologists delight with an impressive list of bird species. Lake Naivasha is unusual in having no known outlet, normally a prerequisite for a freshwater lake!

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort is set in 120 acres of grassland, 1900 feet above sea level and studded with Acacia bushes and trees. The resort has a resident Giraffe,  as well as waterbucks, vervet monkey and colobus monkeys, it is also common to spot hippos at night as when they leave the lake and come to feed on the grass inside he lodge compound. Naivasha is approximately 125kms from Nairobi – just over an hour by road. The flying time from Nairobi to the nearby Loldia Airstrip is 45 minutes. The Lodge blends in perfectly with its natural surroundings and has an innovative and artistic design.

Food & Beverage

The Main Restaurant serves excellent food ranges between Continental, Swahili (Kenya Coast), and Mediterranean cuisines, often with a deliciously subtle fusion of all three disciplines and all prepared using fresh produce and accompanied by a selection of home baked breads, and garden fresh fruits and vegetables. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style. For a lighter snack during the day, there is a poolside bar, located between the swimming pool and the tennis court and serves a la carte menu and has a pizzeria. The dining room also has a large, outdoor patio with umbrella-shaded tables for those who wish to enjoy an open air meal during the day.

The  main bar near the lounge, with its dark timber panel finish, cozy ambience, romantically subtle concealed lighting and high, upholstered bar stools, would have once been the perfect setting for a scene from one of Dirk Bogarde’s movies.
