As one of the first properties to open within the Reserve over 40 years ago, Keekorok Lodge was placed in an enviable position in the direct path of the incredible Great Wildebeest Migration. This spectacular event of nature brings thousands of wildebeest, other plains game and their predators into the area each year between July and October.

Having retained its historic charm of years gone by, Keekorok Lodge nowadays provides all the modern amenities expected of a good safari lodge with comfortable rooms and high levels of service.

Keekorok means “place of black trees” in the local Maasai language and is in an area where there is an abundance of animals. At any time of year the surrounding landscape is teeming with wildlife, including examples of all of Africa’s Big Five, many other mammals and reptiles and over 485 bird species.

Providing an ideal base for anyone requiring mid-priced accommodation for a Maasai Mara safari, this lodge can be booked as part of a Kenya safari by road or including flights to the nearby Keekorok airstrip.

Accommodation
Keekorok Lodge has 101 guest rooms, all with en suite facilities and with private balconies. There are Standard Rooms, Chalets, an Executive Suite and a three-bedroom Presidential Suite. The tastefully-furnished rooms are either within single-storey blocks or are individual bungalows.

Facilities & Activities
The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool, the “Eseriani Spa” providing a range of professional health and beauty treatments, a restaurant serving good quality international and local cuisine, 3 bars, a cafe and a television lounge.

All meals are buffet-style with a huge choice of freshly prepared options including fresh salads, a pasta bar, a choice of meat and non-meat hot entrees and a tempting dessert selection.

Complimentary tea and coffee is served on the terrace throughout the day.

A short stroll along a wooden platform takes you to the Hippo Bar for the unique experience of observing hippos wallowing in their pool whilst you enjoy a relaxing drink. Alternatively, follow the path through the trees to the Elephant Deck for a wonderful place to observe the surrounding wildlife.

Guests can venture into the Maasai Mara for thrilling morning and afternoon game drives in search of some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife. At other times the lodge’s attractive pool or terrace provides the ideal place to unwind.

Other activities (optional and at a supplement) include hot air ballooning, bird watching, cultural tours and fishing.
