Itinerary in Detail

DAY BY DAY

Tour Experiences

Day 1

Meet in the morning on arrival at the airport. Visit the Genocide Mausoleum. Lunch in town. Follow the road as it climbs to the base of the majestic volcanoes, with spectacular views across the five peaks. Continue toward Volcanoes NP,  a journey of  150 Kilometers – Approximately 3 hrs drive on mostly tarmac roads. Dinner and overnight at Virunga Lodge (LD).

Day 2

An early start, as the first light of dawn breaks through the curtain of mist clinging to the summits of Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabyniyo, Gahingaand Muhabura, we make our way into the Parc National des Volcans and to the base in the foothills where you will be joined by trackers, army rangers and porters who accompany the trek in search of Mountain Gorillas . A journey of  60 Kilometers – Approximately 2 hrs drive on mostly tarmac roads.

Tracking the gorillas through the unique vegetation can take several hours of challenging walking in wet and muddy conditions. To see a gorilla, the trek will have been worth the hardship. Later return to Virunga Lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure – take a complimentary massage or visit the twin lakes – Burella & Ruhondo. In the evening enjoy a performance by a local dance troupe. Dinner and overnight at Virunga Lodge (BLD).

Day 3

Optional activity in the morning returning to your lodge for lunch. After lunch at your hotel, time remining, tour the rugged shore of lake Bulera. Dinner and overnight near the Volcanoes NP.

  • 2nd GORILLA TRACKING PERMIT –  USD 1500 per Person
  • GOLDEN MONKEYS EXCURSION – USD 110 per Person
  • VISIT DIAN FOSSEY’S TOMB – USD 85 per Person
  • BISOKE CLIMB – USD 85 per Person

Day 4

Enjoy during the early morning hours the peaceful atmosphere of the volcanoes. Return to Kigali. A journey of  150 Kilometers – Approximately 3 hrs drive on mostly tarmac roads. Have Lunch and  thereafter  transfer to the airport for your international flight
