Ongava Tented Camp
This classic safari style camp is tucked away on the private 30,000-hectare Ongava Game Reserve, which borders Etosha National Park.
The camp offers comfortable Meru-style tents, which all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas. Â There is also a family unit which sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, looks out onto a much-frequented waterhole; where guests can observe the wildlife that come to drink from here. Â A swimming pool is also available to cool off during the heat of the day.
Guests can experience game drives in the Etosha National Park and on the private Ongava Reserve, as well as guided walks, birding and visiting hides to observe wildlife.
Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino.
Accommodation
Seven large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas.
One Family unit comprises 2 tents sleeping up to 4 guests, with their own bathroom and entrance linked by a short curved walkway
Each room comprises of open plan en-suite facilities with flush toilet, vanity basin, indoor and outdoor shower, mosquito net, writing desk and chair, easy chair, luggage rack, tea & coffee making facilities and an electronic safe
No air-conditioning, however, a strong 220v standing fan is in the room. Â During winter hot water bottles and extra blankets are provided
Location
Ongava Tented Camp is located on the southern boundary of Etosha National Park, with Ombika Gate being the closest access to Etosha.  Guests can arrive by vehicle or fly into the private airstrip.  All game drives at Ongava Tented Camp are taken in the camp’s vehicles.
Activities
- Day and night game drives on Ongava Game Reserve in 4 x 10-seater open 4×4 Land Cruisers. Each Land Cruiser accommodates a maximum of 7 guests allowing each guest to have an outside seat.
- Half day excursions into Etosha National Park and full day excursions with a picnic (on request).
- Guided nature walks on the Ongava Game Reserve (seasonal & subject to qualified walking guide being available)
- White rhino can be approached on foot, guest minimum age 16 years (seasonal & subject to the availability of a qualified walking guide)
- Ongava Research Centre Information Service and Visitor Centre
- Hide for viewing and photography
- Stargazing
