Hemingways Resort
Hemingways Resort lies within the Watamu Marine National Park, only 3 hours from Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest National Park. It is situated approximately 90 miles north of Mombasa and 18 miles south of Malindi on the Turtle Bay beach at Watamu.
Hemingways is a 78-bed resort-hotel on the stunning sands of Watamu Bay. The ambience of the hotel is of relaxed sophistication, with the friendliness of a privately-owned hotel coupled to the facilities and standards of an international resort. The international cuisine is highly regarded, with attentive service to match, and the staff are renowned for their courtesy and friendliness.
The beach was voted by the Sunday Times as being one of the top 10 beaches in the world, there being just 4 hotels on as many miles of coast, fringed by the finest of tropical barrier reefs.
Three miles up the coast from Hemingways is Mida, a tidal lagoon of mangrove creeks teeming with exotic bird-life, and the venue for the sundowner cruises on an Arabic dhow, whilst out to sea there is dolphin-watching, snorkelling and diving. For game-lovers they offer a variety of personal safaris with their own experienced guides. For the more energetic there is a wide range of excursions and facilities, from shopping trips to the in-house gym. Add the best big-game fishing fleet in Africa with some of the most productive fishing grounds in the world, and you have a truly unique and exceptional destination for your tropical vacation.
Accommodation
‘Stunning sea views, stylishly furnished’

All have bathrooms with showers en-suite. There is air-conditioning and fans throughout, and rooms also have mosquito nets, personal safes and room fridges.

Deluxe Rooms – There are double and twin beds to choose from in the more spacious rooms of the new Hemingways wing. These rooms are all on the first and second floors and the exercise taken on the staircases is rewarded by enhanced panoramas of the beach and sea from the balconies. Deluxe Rooms are on the ground floor of the new wing, offering the easiest of access to the hotel gardens and beach, they have a bath as well as a shower, three single beds and a terrace with table and chairs. Junior Suites are available on all three floors. They have super king-sized beds, large baths, as well as showers and a lounge area.
Food – A wide range of international styles are on offer, ranging from sophisticated recipes with delicate sauces, to simple cooking of the finest ingredients. The hotel has its own farms at Lake Naivasha, with fresh vegetables and flowers flown in on a daily basis, whilst their own fishing boats land fish every afternoon. Buffet lunches (certain days) include Mongolian, Italian and Indian specialities. Live cooking is a major feature and there are buffet pasta and salad stations.
If you choose to go fishing, the chefs will prepare your prize exactly as you would like it. You might fancy Japanese style sashimi, finely sliced with soya sauce and wasabi, or maybe blackened Cajun style fillets, or just simply steamed! Which ever way, you will never eat fish fresher than this.

Hi, I’m Rae, based on the West Coast of Canada, on beautiful Vancouver Island. My solo travels have since taken me through Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mauritius, South Africa, Uganda, Namibia, and Kenya, where I experienced Gamewatchers Safaris and Porini Camps firsthand.
