Not to be confused with it’s neighbour – the Democratic Republic of Congo which is a separate country –  the Republic of Congo is covered by more than 60% forest and is home to the second largest rainforest in the world.  With very few numbers who have discovered this destination, the Republic of the Congo is a truly enthralling and remote destination with stunning bio diversity, endangered and rare wildlife and pristine eco-systems.

The capital Brazzaville, is a vibrant and colourful city, enriched with culture and heritage.  With it’s French inspired architecture, easy to navigate streets, colourful markets and lively restaurants a day trip or excursion to explore this capital city is a must during your stay.

The Congo Basin is a year-round travel destination, where visitors can experience rainy seasons and less rainy seasons.   Rain is an essential part of the ecosystem and visitors need to expect rain during a visit, even in the ‘dry’ season.

The “short” dry season from December through February brings gentler rain, hazy air, and lower humidity. It starts to get hotter towards the end of March. July is one of the least wet and coolest months, with temperatures staying fairly low through August. September is usually the end of the low-rainfall season. During the dry season, gorillas hunt for ripe fruit in the trees, making them easier to observe, and more wildlife is drawn to the baïs.

While weather varies from day to day, the wet season usually involves frequent short heavy rains along with a rise in temperatures. This happens twice: beginning around the end of April before tapering off in mid-June, and again towards the middle of September, with heavier rains beginning in October and temperatures cooling down in November. Rains start to diminish in December. The wet season’s equatorial storms bring especially picturesque skies which are great for photographers.
