Experience Kenya’s Best Elephant Watch Safaris At Porini Amboseli Camp.

As the only camp located in the private Selenkay Conservancy within the Amboseli ecosystem, Porini Amboseli Camp offers the best of both worlds: elephant watching holidays with access to all of Amboseli’s famous wildlife, but with a far more exclusive, crowd-free safari experience.

Selenkay Water hole and safari vehicle.

Safari without crowds or mass tourism.

Only one tent is allowed per 700 acres on our conservancies. And only one tourist vehicle per 1,400 acres.

This extremely low density puts less pressure on the animals, resulting in more natural behaviour and longer, uninterrupted sightings.

Ethical. Low-impact. Wildlife first & Award-winning.

Porini Amboseli Camp is Gold Eco-Rated by Ecotourism Kenya, recognising its commitment to low-impact tourism, wildlife conservation, and community support, while helping protect vital elephant habitats across the Amboseli ecosystem.

Selenkay Conservancy also won the World’s Leading Conservation Programme in 2025.

No rushed, hurried moments. Observe animals as long as you want.

Porini Amboseli Camp is not inside Amboseli National Park itself. Instead, it sits in a private conservancy within the greater Amboseli ecosystem.

Conservancies do not follow the rigid rules of national parks. You’ll still see all the same animals, but will be able to do so on your own terms and pace.

No time pressure means more time to observe elephant family interactions including dust bathing, calves playing and more.

Elephants are very common. While lions, leopards and buffalo are frequently spotted.

Selenkay serves as a key dry-season water source and dispersal area, supporting species less common in Amboseli National Park, including African wild dog, gerenuk, and lesser kudu.

We were fortunate to spend 3 nights at Porini Amboseli in October 2025. We were met on the airstrip by our fantastic guides, Thomason and Amos who were a wealth of knowledge and kindness as well as expert off-road drivers. We were greeted by generous staff led by Felix at camp. Shout-out to him, the chef, and staff (Solomon, Jonah, Jackson, Ezekiel) who guided us around the camp, communal area, and our tent. We appreciated the morning coffee and warm water as well as the bucket shower refills. We got to encounter so many of the Big Six (including the Maasai warrior with a visit to a local village. We will never forget our time at the camp, and appreciate what everyone did for us to make our first safari the absolute best!

We stayed 3 nights at Porini Amboseli. 5 star bush accommodations with warmth and attention to detail. The food was excellent, the campfire welcoming. The nights were chilly so the warm water bottles in our beds and the morning french-press coffee delivery were awesome touches. Their expert guides, local to the area, show you the animals up close, and keep you safe. Their ability to read the tracks and the environment was amazing. We saw SO MUCH !!! In every way our stay at Porini Amboseli exceeded our expectations and made a wonderful introduction for me to Kenya!

A true safari experience. It was a wonderful trip as we were treated so well and saw and learned so much. We felt like all of the staff became family.

Choose a local safari expert and start planning.

If you’re seeking a meaningful, eco-luxury, low‑impact elephant safari that’s far from the crowds, you’ll find it at Porini Amboseli Camp.

It’s no secret that Amboseli National Park is a tourist trap. It can get very busy and has rigid operational times and rules that can make animal sightings seem rushed, with some encounters less likely to happen. But you’ll find none of these issues at our Porini Amboseli Camp.

Located on the Selenkay Conservancy, our Camp is situated in the same Amboseli ecosystem that’s renowned for its elephants, but away from the mass tourism and rules of the Park.

Only one tent is allowed per 700 acres on the Conservancy, and only one tourist vehicle is allowed per 1,400 acres.

And because conservancies allow off-road driving, guides can position vehicles carefully and respectfully. Meaning if you want to stay with any animal sighting, you can. And if the perfect sighting unfolds, there’s no pressure to leave.  In private conservancies, your day can start earlier and end whenever you want. You can:

– Head out before sunrise for the best light.
– Stay out as the sun sets.
– Experience night drives and a different side of the bush.

What this means is: we are able to offer you one of the most ethical, most natural, most exclusive elephant safari holidays in Kenya.

Here we invite you to journey with us on an Amboseli camping safari that’s situated deep in the wilderness, where it feels almost like the continent is entirely yours to experience.

Our elephant watch safaris in Kenya represent the greatest opportunity to see elephants in the wild.

Not just in Kenya or Africa, but the entire world. The Amboseli ecosystem is home to approximately 2,000 elephants, including large families of some of Africa’s largest tuskers. Their herds are well known to our guides, meaning their behaviour is well understood.

Elephants are resident in the Ambolesi ecosystem year-round and reliable water sources attract them regularly.

Amboseli itself is famous for its wide open landscapes and iconic backdrops of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which makes for easy, unobstructed and extremely photogenic viewings.

This means you are unlikely to go a day without seeing elephants. And sightings are often relaxed and long-lasting.

If you’re looking for camps in Amboseli National Park without the crowds, you won’t get it much better than this.

More Information

Set amidst the unspoiled wilderness of the 13,000-acre Selenkay Conservancy, Porini Amboseli Camp offers a truly immersive safari experience, far removed from the crowded tourist trails of Kenya’s national parks. This exclusive eco-camp is the only accommodation within the conservancy, giving guests unmatched access to vast savannahs, acacia woodlands, and a thriving wildlife population—all in complete privacy.

Porini Amboseli Camp is a shining example of low-impact, sustainable tourism. With only nine guest tents and one spacious family tent, the camp prioritizes comfort, authenticity, and environmental sensitivity. Each tent includes king or twin beds, a writing desk, private veranda, charging points, and an ensuite bathroom with a flushing toilet and safari shower. Powered entirely by solar energy and constructed using eco-friendly materials, the camp is designed to leave no lasting footprint on the land—so much so that, with a few rains, nature would reclaim the space within weeks if the camp were ever moved.

The safari experience at Porini Amboseli Camp is exceptional. Daily game drives explore both the Selenkay Conservancy and the renowned Amboseli National Park, where views of Mount Kilimanjaro provide a dramatic backdrop to unforgettable wildlife sightings. Guests enjoy guided walks with Maasai warriors, night game drives, picnic breakfasts, bush lunches, sundowners, and even the option for a romantic safari wedding. For those seeking deeper cultural engagement, visits to local villages and schools offer insight into Maasai traditions and a chance to support grassroots development.

Community support is at the heart of everything Porini does. The camp provides employment and training for local Maasai, funds community programs, and channels 100% of donations through the Wildlife Habitat Trust to vital initiatives in education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods—such as beekeeping programs for youth. This unique model of tourism ensures that conservation is not only sustainable, but deeply rooted in the well-being of the people who call this land home.
