Located in the award-winning 18,700-acre Ol Kinyei Conservancy—the only IUCN Green List Protected area in the Mara—the cottages provide guests with an intimate and exclusive base from which to experience the magic of the African bush.

Perched on a hillside with sweeping views over open plains and a nearby wildlife-rich dam, the four beautifully designed cottages combine modern comfort with thoughtful eco-conscious design. Day 1

10am flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Mara. Porini Safari Cottages staff will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to the Cottages. After lunch take an afternoon game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy, stopping at a scenic point for a sundowner. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Morning and evening game drives in the conservancy land surrounding the cottages. (Or for those guests who wish to have a visit to the Mara Reserve: after an early breakfast drive into the Reserve for the full morning and a picnic lunch in the Reserve returning to camp later in the afternoon. Extra reserve fees to be charged) In the evening, head out for a “Sundowner” within Ol Kinyei Conservancy and then continue back to the cottages on a night game drive looking for nocturnal animals. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Take an early morning walk in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy escorted by Maasai warriors and return for breakfast. Transfer to the airstrip and fly back to Nairobi (arriving around 12.15pm).

An amazing experience from the moment we arrived to the time we got dropped off at the airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi. The safari cottage unit is a stand alone building with 4 bedrooms, a TV/Tech room and a spacious living area. The cottages are located on a hill overlooking the conservancy and provide amazing vistas over the Mara landscape. Each cottage unit is more than adequate for 8 guests (for a small family gathering or group of friends). There is a large garden area and also a large covered deck where most of our lunches were hosted. Dinner was usually indoors in the living area, which is also home to a well stocked bar. The set of 2 bedrooms on each side of the central living area mirror each other. They have comfortable beds, 24x7 electricity and one of the true luxuries…an outdoor shower (also have indoor shower). The team in charge of your cottage unit is fixed for the stay and are all seasoned hospitality professionals. Meals are generous multi course affairs and absolutely fantastic. Apologies for forgetting the names but it has been more than a month since our visit….but great job by our chef team and our butlers/hosts. In addition, we had a lovely guide David who took care of all our safari requirements and showed us the numerous wonders of the Ol Kinyei conservancy. The game viewing was so good, that we didn’t need to venture into the neighboring Naboisho conservancy, on which the Porini Camps also have safari rights currently. I can only say good things about the Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages and Porini. Overall, I highly recommend staying here and will try to return in the near future.

This is our first time at Porini Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages with the experience being superior. We arrived and exited our vehicle to the staff all lined up outside welcoming us with a traditional dance and song. It was incredible and very special. The accomodation is high quality and superb. We had our own room at the end of the building. We had ample space, great quality bedding, indoor shower, but also an outdoor shower, which we used daily. There is running water, so you can shower when you wish. Each cottage has their own chef and staff and you can eat your meals inside or outside. It was lovely to eat outside and look over the plains. The food was amazing, delicious, well presented and plentiful. The staff go beyond what is required and attention to detail is amazing. The staff are friendly, helpful, informative and pay attention to detail. Our guides were amazing and knew exactly what we wanted and were more than happy to do what they could to assist us. Being in the Maasai Mara, there is an abundance of animals to see. Sunsets and sunrises are magnificent. The view from the Cottages outstanding and refreshing. I cannot stress how beautiful and accommodating a stay at the Cottages is. It was my husband's birthday whilst we were there and the staff went above and beyond to provide Peter with an amazing experience of traditional song, dance with Peter joining in - remarkable and unforgettable experience. There is no question about returning here again.

Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages was a simply wonderful, intimate safari experience! This beautifully appointed cottage provided an extraordinary stay in a wild setting. This “camp” is in a conservancy area — which means that it provides the Masai communities that own the land with fair compensation to support and encourage wildlife conservation in a model that has been shown to sustainably support both communities and wildlife. Our family strongly recommends Ol Kinyei Safari Cottages. If someone were coming to Kenya and could only spend time at one safari camp, this is where I would recommend they go.

Personally this was my first safari and OMG what an experience!!! I can’t begin to express how amazing the entire trip was. The cottages were lovely and beautiful with such an amazing view of the landscape. The Masai who have a vested interest in the land and the camps are such lovely people — they helped make the trip as special as it was. Their knowledge of the flora and fauna was second to none! We were welcomed and treated with open arms and we became very close with all who worked at the camps to the point tears were shed between all when we left. The outings were excellent and the raw beauty of the land and nature was second to none. The variety of animals seen was impressive. We went on both day and night time game drives and the last night of the trip was topped by watching a live kill of a wildabeast being taken down by lions. I just can’t say enough about the whole experience.

I don’t know what I was expecting about this place, but my memories of it are of near perfection in terms of the amazing location, the very comfortable rooms, the glorious creations from the chef’s daily, and the genuine world class hospitality of the staff. The adventures we had here will never be forgotten, and while this level of comfort would not be necessary for that to be true, it certainly made it easier for a group of weary travelers to be fully present and taken in the wonders of the Mara.

An incredible stay, we are so grateful to have found the Porini Cottages. Meals are delicious, offerings are plentiful and cater to every dietary restriction, the rooms are lovely and large with indoor and outdoor showers, the staff are gracious and their attention to detail is humbling, the guides are so knowledgeable - of the land, the culture, and the flora and fauna. It felt like we had the bush to ourselves, us and an astonishing amount of animals. I recommend a walking safari, a visit to a village, take advantage of the breadth of what they have to offer, Staying at this conservancy supports and sustains the Maasai in such a thoughtful and thorough way, so that land, animals and culture are valued and preserved.
