More Information

Nestled deep within the breathtaking 18,700-acre Ol Kinyei Conservancy—one of Kenya’s most pristine and exclusive wildlife havens—Porini Mara Camp offers an authentic and immersive safari experience unlike any other. This award-winning eco-camp is situated in the heart of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, where vast open savannahs, acacia-dotted woodlands, and lush riverine forests form a dramatic backdrop for unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Porini Mara Camp is intentionally small and intimate, with just six spacious safari tents (including a dedicated family unit), ensuring a serene and uncrowded environment. Here, guests are immersed in raw nature, surrounded by the sounds of the bush and the rhythm of wildlife. Every tent secures the protection of 700 acres of conservancy land, thanks to Porini’s unique model of sustainable tourism that directly supports local Maasai communities and vital conservation efforts.

This pioneering community conservancy was the first of its kind when established in 2005. Today, it is globally recognized on the IUCN Green List of protected areas—one of only around 70 sites worldwide to earn this prestigious status.

Ol Kinyei Conservancy is home to an astonishing diversity of wildlife, including two resident lion prides, elusive leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and more. As the northernmost calving ground for the Loita wildebeest migration, it offers guests the rare chance to witness this awe-inspiring natural event each year, typically in January and February.

What makes Porini Mara Camp truly special is the unrivalled sense of exclusivity. The conservancy is reserved for Porini guests only, and tourism numbers are strictly limited—with no more than one vehicle per 1,400 acres—ensuring that every game drive feels personal and privileged. In addition to exploring Ol Kinyei Conservancy, guests also enjoy access to the neighbouring Naboisho Conservancy, broadening the range of habitats and wildlife experiences available.

Your safari here goes beyond traditional game drives. Led by expert Maasai guides and spotters, guests can enjoy night drives, guided nature walks, sundowners in scenic locations, and even bush breakfasts or lunches in the wild. Cultural visits to local Maasai villages and schools foster deeper connections and understanding, giving you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community’s long-term success.

Porini Mara Camp is a Gold Eco-rated camp that runs entirely on solar power and uses no permanent structures, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. If the camp were removed, nature would soon reclaim the space, leaving little trace behind. Guests also have the chance to support conservation and community initiatives through the Wildlife Habitat Trust, where 100% of donations go directly to projects such as youth beekeeping programs, education, and healthcare.

The Mara, as are all the Porini camps a special place. We were treated well and had a great experience. All aspects of the stay were wonderful, and we feel like we made new friends of all the staff.

Amazing game viewing and great service! I am experienced safari go-er (previously in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and Botswana) and I had a great time at this camp. We saw something amazing every time we went out which is down to luck but also great guide services. The tent was comfortable and bucket showers were long and hot. Meals are communal which I prefer as a solo traveler. Also had a very interesting nature walk one morning. In terms of game, we saw a cheetah, leopard, and tons of lions and lion cubs, including lions mating and fighting over a carcass. It was great to be able to support the local Masai community as well since they own the conservancy. We did see other vehicles at good sites, but never more than 2 or 3 and many times we were alone. Very nice bush breakfasts while on morning game drives. So glad I picked this camp.

This was truly an extraordinary experience. Camp Mara is a must stay and you should try to get Geoffrey Ketere as your guide—he is exceptional. His deep knowledge of wildlife and nature, combined with his passion and attentiveness to your interests, made every game drive unforgettable. Thanks to him, we saw everything on our wish list, including cheetahs, leopards, crocodiles, hippos—and the absolute highlight for me: witnessing a group of lions on the hunt. Back at the camp, the staff was impressive—kind, hardworking, and dedicated to making sure your stay is both comfortable and luxurious. Every detail was taken care of with genuine warmth and care. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime safari adventure!

After staying in the excellent Porini Lion camp last year we were so impressed and wanted to return. Deciding to combine 2 different conservancies this time and choosing to stay again in Lion camp and also Porini Mara camp in Ol kinyei conservancy. Once again the whole package provided by Porini was excellent from the bush breakfasts to sundowners and the hot bucket showers. In particular their game drives were superb enabling us to explore both Ol Kinyei and the neighbouring Naboisho conservancy. We were fortunate in having an excellent driver and guide in Ben and Edward who always managed to get us in the best positions for photography especially when a Leopard was involved. We are already planning a return visit next year.

Had a lovely stay at Porini Mara Camp! It is in a private Conservancy where only their camps can do game drives which was amazing. We saw lions, a cheetah hunting and 2 leopards! Plus so many more other animals, we were all so pleased. Our tents were very comfortable and clean but had to get used to the bucket showers but they were fine. Food and service were delicious! Loved our fun guide Stanley. Will be back!
