More Information

Nestled deep within the breathtaking 18,700-acre Ol Kinyei Conservancy—one of Kenya’s most pristine and exclusive wildlife havens—Porini Mara Camp offers an authentic and immersive safari experience unlike any other. This award-winning eco-camp is situated in the heart of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, where vast open savannahs, acacia-dotted woodlands, and lush riverine forests form a dramatic backdrop for unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Porini Mara Camp is intentionally small and intimate, with just six spacious safari tents (including a dedicated family unit), ensuring a serene and uncrowded environment. Here, guests are immersed in raw nature, surrounded by the sounds of the bush and the rhythm of wildlife. Every tent secures the protection of 700 acres of conservancy land, thanks to Porini’s unique model of sustainable tourism that directly supports local Maasai communities and vital conservation efforts.

This pioneering community conservancy was the first of its kind when established in 2005. Today, it is globally recognized on the IUCN Green List of protected areas—one of only around 70 sites worldwide to earn this prestigious status.

Ol Kinyei Conservancy is home to an astonishing diversity of wildlife, including two resident lion prides, elusive leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and more. As the northernmost calving ground for the Loita wildebeest migration, it offers guests the rare chance to witness this awe-inspiring natural event each year, typically in January and February.

What makes Porini Mara Camp truly special is the unrivalled sense of exclusivity. The conservancy is reserved for Porini guests only, and tourism numbers are strictly limited—with no more than one vehicle per 1,400 acres—ensuring that every game drive feels personal and privileged. In addition to exploring Ol Kinyei Conservancy, guests also enjoy access to the neighbouring Naboisho Conservancy, broadening the range of habitats and wildlife experiences available.

Your safari here goes beyond traditional game drives. Led by expert Maasai guides and spotters, guests can enjoy night drives, guided nature walks, sundowners in scenic locations, and even bush breakfasts or lunches in the wild. Cultural visits to local Maasai villages and schools foster deeper connections and understanding, giving you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community’s long-term success.

Porini Mara Camp is a Gold Eco-rated camp that runs entirely on solar power and uses no permanent structures, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. If the camp were removed, nature would soon reclaim the space, leaving little trace behind. Guests also have the chance to support conservation and community initiatives through the Wildlife Habitat Trust, where 100% of donations go directly to projects such as youth beekeeping programs, education, and healthcare.

However, should guests wish to include a visit to the reserve this can be pre-booked with the additional park entry charge applicable (contact us for prices). Excellent Camp

After staying in the excellent Porini Lion camp last year we were so impressed and wanted to return. Deciding to combine 2 different conservancies this time and choosing to stay again in Lion camp and also Porini Mara camp in Ol kinyei conservancy. Once again the whole package provided by Porini was excellent from the bush breakfasts to sundowners and the hot bucket showers. In particular their game drives were superb enabling us to explore both Ol Kinyei and the neighbouring Naboisho conservancy. We were fortunate in having an excellent driver and guide in Ben and Edward who always managed to get us in the best positions for photography especially when a Leopard was involved. We are already planning a return visit next year.

Had a lovely stay at Porini Mara Camp! It is in a private Conservancy where only their camps can do game drives which was amazing. We saw lions, a cheetah hunting and 2 leopards! Plus so many more other animals, we were all so pleased. Our tents were very comfortable and clean but had to get used to the bucket showers but they were fine. Food and service were delicious! Loved our fun guide Stanley. Will be back!

Superb stay at Porini Mara Camp

We visited the Porini Mara camp in early March (2025). Our experience was outstanding. The camp itself is very well run (thanks to Felix), with very good food and comfortable tent based accomodations in spite of the fact that you are in a remote location. The game drives are simply outstanding with highly competent drivers and guides (thanks to Stanley and Edward). We have traveled to other game parks, i.e. Tanzania, and would highly recommend the Porini Mara camp. Without question it is worth the additional expense to visit a private conservancy as opposed to the a national park, as the safari experience is simpy more authentic. Highly recommended

This camp exceeded all expectations, even knowing that my friends who arrange the trip knew Kenya well. Well, the comfort of the tents and the common areas was amazing, in addition to the location, the staff is really what made it over the top welcoming an unforgettable. Their hospitality was first rate, as was their knowledge of what we were there to learn, and their eagerness to share it.
Loved the setting of this camp

Porini Mara was our 2nd safari camp on our recent trip. Just as at Porini Rhino, our stay was wonderful. Lunches were enjoyed outside under the trees and we particularly liked the communal dining room which gave us a place to socialize with other guests. As with the other camps, the staff was fabulous and Edward and Joseph were wonderful guides. It appeared they had training as photographers as they always knew what to do to give us the best chance for great pictures. Hope we are able to return one day!
