Tucked away in a secluded forest of Leleshwa (African Wild Sage) and Yellow Bark Acacia, Porini Giraffe Camp offers an intimate and authentic safari experience in the heart of the Mara Ripoi Conservancy. Spanning 13,500 acres of rolling hills, lush riverine woodlands, and open plains, this exclusive conservancy is a haven for wildlife—including big cats, elephants, giraffes, and countless other species—all roaming freely between the Mara Reserve, Siana Conservancy, and Ol Kinyei Conservancy via natural wildlife corridors.

With just eight guest tents, Porini Giraffe Camp provides a personal and eco-conscious safari experience, offering a refreshing alternative to the crowded tourist lodges. The camp’s spacious dining tent and inviting lounge, set along the tranquil Ripole River, create the perfect setting to unwind after thrilling game drives and guided walks.

Tour Experiences

Day 1

Depart from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport on the 10am flight to the Mara. Met at the Mara Naboisho Ol Seki airstrip by Porini staff and transfer to camp. After lunch take an afternoon game drive in the Mara Ripoi Conservancy, stopping at a scenic point for a sundowner. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2

A full day to explore Mara Ripoi Conservancy on the lookout for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, plains game and the big cats. Wake up at dawn and enjoy an early game drive in the conservancy, returning to camp for a late breakfast followed by an escorted nature walk and then lunch. In the afternoon enjoy another game drive in the Conservancy with a night drive as you head back to camp driving in the dark with a filtered spotlight for the chance to see the nocturnal animals. Dinner and overnight at Porini Giraffe Camp.

Day 3

Take an early morning walk in the Mara Ripoi Conservancy escorted by Maasai warriors and return for breakfast. Transfer to the airstrip and fly back to Nairobi (arriving around 12.15pm).

Another wonderful experience at a GameWatchers Porini camp, charming people, lots of wildlife, excellent food, well-organised. We like the way this company run things, and, having been doing safaris for 30 odd years now, we feel they `get it right`!

It is the newest camp, and while the tents are smaller than most of the Porini camps, they are still very comfortable and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The staff at the camp were awesome and could not do enough for us. Highly recommend.

This was my first time in Kenya and also my first safari. So glad I chose Poroni and the Giraffe camp. The staff were out of this world, friendly, caring and so attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. All of them were Masai who willingly and enthusiastically answered my numerous question about their culture. Porini concept of a conservancy was an important factor when choosing a company and having spoken to the team I'm so glad I picked them. The company empower and nurture relationships with the locals providing them with opportunities. The safari itself was amazing, so many pinch me moments. Lionesses with 2 week old cubs, elephants, zebras, Impala - the list goes on. I travelled solo and the staff couldn't have done more to make me feel safe and included. Trip of a lifetime and unlike me quite emotional when leaving. Best experience.

I stayed here for three nights and had the most amazing time. As a solo female traveller and first-time safari-goer, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this experience exceeded all my expectations. From abundant wildlife sightings (lions, giraffes, elephants, and more) to learning about Maasai culture from the warm and welcoming team, every moment was unforgettable. Kudos to Julius, an incredibly talented chef—his veggie lasagna was some of the best I’ve ever had (and I’m a vegetarian!). I felt safe and well cared for throughout my stay. I booked through Safarinut, who I can’t recommend highly enough. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of comfort and culture on safari, Porini is the place to be. Thank you, Porini and Safarinut, for the trip of a lifetime!

Giraffe camp was our middle stop and was our absolute favorite. Fantastic experience, the conservancy is teeming with wildlife in large numbers and we had tonnes of sittings including lions and hyenas eating, as well as many buffalo, warthog, giraffe, zebra, various antelope and more. The camp is small but perfectly formed and beautifully located on the bank of a river surrounded by lush green. Really lovely, interesting and friendly all Maasai staff. Highly recommended.

Giraffe Camp has eight guest tents, a large common dining tent and a large lounge tent. The camp is located in a wildlife conservancy. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The meals are surprising good. Loved the field breakfasts after some early morning game watching. There is plenty of wildlife to see. Including Masai giraffe, gazelle, hippo, zebra, warthogs, eland, topi (blue pants yellow sox), lions, cheetahs, elephants and more. The tent is roughly 10’ by 18’ (3 m by 5.5 m) with a covered patio area. Bedding is comfortable. Hot water is carried in for the shower, so it has to be arranged with the staff. We arranged an hour-long nature walk before sunset with two staff members as guides. Another great Porini Camp.
