More Information

Tucked deep within the untouched wilderness of the award-winning Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Porini Cheetah Camp invites you to experience Kenya’s wild heart in its purest form. Hosted by Jui and Nirmalya Banerjee who are avid wildlife enthusiasts themselves, Porini Cheetah Camp has just six solar-powered guest tents, offering an intimate and authentic safari experience far from the crowds, yet teeming with extraordinary wildlife encounters.

Ol Kinyei Conservancy, a pristine 18,700-acre expanse in the Maasai Mara ecosystem, is one of only around 70 sites worldwide on the IUCN Green List of protected and well-managed areas. Reserved exclusively for Porini guests, this remarkable landscape is a haven for wildlife — including cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and two resident prides of lion. It’s also the northernmost calving ground of the Loita wildebeest migration, with herds present year-round and calving typically seen between January and February.

At Porini Cheetah Camp, every day begins and ends with nature. Guided by expert Maasai safari guides and spotters, guests enjoy exclusive access to game drives across open savannahs, riverine woodlands, and seasonal streams. From exhilarating day and night drives to guided bush walks, birding excursions, and sundowners overlooking the plains, every moment is crafted for immersive discovery.

Guests also benefit from access to the adjacent Naboisho Conservancy, expanding the game-viewing experience across even more diverse habitats. Whether you're searching for elusive predators, marveling at massive elephant herds, or observing the subtle beauty of the African bush, Porini Cheetah Camp delivers a safari that is raw, real, and richly rewarding.

But the magic of Porini extends beyond the wildlife. As a low-impact, Gold Eco-rated camp by Ecotourism Kenya, Porini Cheetah Camp is designed to blend seamlessly into its environment and is powered entirely by solar energy. Its minimal footprint means that if the camp were ever removed, the land would return to its natural state within weeks. This commitment to sustainability ensures that your stay contributes directly to the protection of vital wildlife habitats.

More than just a safari, Porini Cheetah Camp offers a meaningful connection to Kenya’s people and conservation efforts. The camp is staffed entirely by members of the local Maasai community, and every guest stay supports land lease payments, employment, and essential community development initiatives. Through our partnership with the Wildlife Habitat Trust, guests can also contribute directly to education, healthcare, beekeeping, and youth empowerment projects in the region.

Our Porini Camps in the Mara are adjacent to the reserve in exceptionally rich wildlife areas where tourism density is controlled and deliberately kept very low (1 guest tent to 700 acres) and as such there is no need to visit the Mara National Reserve to view lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, hippo etc. Stays in our camps in the conservancies also include extra activities like night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals and sundowners. However, should guests wish to include a visit to the reserve this can be pre-booked with the additional park entry charge applicable (contact us for prices). As the park entry tickets for the reserve must be booked and paid for in advance, this option needs to be confirmed at time of booking.

We had one of our best holidays ever . It cannot be described in mere words . One has to be there to experience the hospitality of the host and hostess and the paradise they live in. Food is customized to your liking keeping in mind dietary restrictions if any.
Beautiful Camp

The camp is very nicely laid out and the tent was very spacious, beautifully appointed and comfortable with a very large bathroom area. The owners (Jui and Nirmalya) as well as John, the camp manager were very kind and accommodating and there was nothing they wouldn't do for us. The game drives were wonderful and our guides, Edward and Juma, were very knowledgeable and excellent spotters. We saw very many animals, birds that we hadn't seen before and so very many lions. There is a very large pride in the conservancy consisting of a couple of males, many females and many cubs. It was great fun watching them in the early morning and late afternoons when they were super playful. We also finally found the elusive leopard (2nd trip to Africa and 1st leopard for me) on our last day. So happy to get a good look at her. This is a beautiful camp in a lovely setting.
AMAZING safari experience for nature lovers

We had the most amazing time at porini cheetah camp. My mom and I are nature lovers and first-time safari goers and visited porini cheetah camp to celebrate her 60th birthday. We LOVED our experience and my mom kept saying she felt like she was inside the lion king. The tent rooms were luxurious and comfortable, and the staff was exceptional. The game drives were amazing, we saw lions, giraffe, zebra every day up close and were lucky enough to see cheetah on the first day and the difficult to spot leopard on the last day.
Exceeded our expectations, both from sighting and quality of stay

This was an experience to remember for a lifetime. A nice smallish camp, with six tents, run by Jui and Nirmalya. They, alongwith manager John, go out of their way to make your stay a memorable experience. Spacious ensuite tents, great food and a great staff. Chatting with Jui and Nirmalya during meal times was the cherry on top. Very knowledgeable and hospitable couple. Highly recomended.
Another 10 stars for Porini

This camp is located in the Ol kinyei conservancy part of the Maasai Mara Lovely camp, lovely staff Jackson & Edward a great spotter/ driver team. We saw ostrich, lions, cheetah , wildebeests, hyenas, elephants, giraffes Sat by campfire and had great conversation with manager John. We were able to book a hot air balloon ride over the Mara which was wonderful. Fun fact is that we were awoken at 2am to munching and snorting sounds which we were hoping to be zebras!
