Host to the Loita wildebeest migration, with herds arriving in Ol Kinyei by January and calving in February–March, filling the plains before moving into neighboring conservancies.
Home to abundant wildlife including cheetahs, elephants, and two resident lion prides.
- KPSGA-certified Maasai Guides lead day and night game drives in Ol Kinyei and neighbouring Naboisho Conservancies
Bush breakfasts, guided nature walks, sundowners, and stargazing under vast African skies.
Enhance your adventure with an optional balloon safari, offering a breathtaking bird’s-eye view over the savannah.
- Ol Kinyei Conservancy was the first community
conservancy of it’s kind set up in 2005 and every tent pays to secure 700 acres with the vehicles being limited to no more than 1 vehicle to 1400 acres.
Camp is staffed by members of the local Maasai community, providing employment and training.
Guests contribute directly to conservation and community initiatives through the 100% donor-funded Wildlife Habitat Trust.
Every stay funds land lease payments that supports wildlife and habitat conservation.
Tucked deep within the untouched wilderness of the award-winning Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Porini Cheetah Camp invites you to experience Kenya’s wild heart in its purest form. Hosted by Jui and Nirmalya Banerjee who are avid wildlife enthusiasts themselves, Porini Cheetah Camp has just six solar-powered guest tents, offering an intimate and authentic safari experience far from the crowds, yet teeming with extraordinary wildlife encounters.
Ol Kinyei Conservancy, a pristine 18,700-acre expanse in the Maasai Mara ecosystem, is one of only around 70 sites worldwide on the IUCN Green List of protected and well-managed areas. Reserved exclusively for Porini guests, this remarkable landscape is a haven for wildlife — including cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and two resident prides of lion. It’s also the northernmost calving ground of the Loita wildebeest migration, with herds present year-round and calving typically seen between January and February.
At Porini Cheetah Camp, every day begins and ends with nature. Guided by expert Maasai safari guides and spotters, guests enjoy exclusive access to game drives across open savannahs, riverine woodlands, and seasonal streams. From exhilarating day and night drives to guided bush walks, birding excursions, and sundowners overlooking the plains, every moment is crafted for immersive discovery.
Guests also benefit from access to the adjacent Naboisho Conservancy, expanding the game-viewing experience across even more diverse habitats. Whether you're searching for elusive predators, marveling at massive elephant herds, or observing the subtle beauty of the African bush, Porini Cheetah Camp delivers a safari that is raw, real, and richly rewarding.
But the magic of Porini extends beyond the wildlife. As a low-impact, Gold Eco-rated camp by Ecotourism Kenya, Porini Cheetah Camp is designed to blend seamlessly into its environment and is powered entirely by solar energy. Its minimal footprint means that if the camp were ever removed, the land would return to its natural state within weeks. This commitment to sustainability ensures that your stay contributes directly to the protection of vital wildlife habitats.
More than just a safari, Porini Cheetah Camp offers a meaningful connection to Kenya’s people and conservation efforts. The camp is staffed entirely by members of the local Maasai community, and every guest stay supports land lease payments, employment, and essential community development initiatives. Through our partnership with the Wildlife Habitat Trust, guests can also contribute directly to education, healthcare, beekeeping, and youth empowerment projects in the region.

Our Porini Camps in the Mara are adjacent to the reserve in exceptionally rich wildlife areas where tourism density is controlled and deliberately kept very low (1 guest tent to 700 acres) and as such there is no need to visit the Mara National Reserve to view lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffe, hippo etc. Stays in our camps in the conservancies also include extra activities like night game drives, guided bush walks, bush meals and sundowners. However, should guests wish to include a visit to the reserve this can be pre-booked with the additional park entry charge applicable (contact us for prices). As the park entry tickets for the reserve must be booked and paid for in advance, this option needs to be confirmed at time of booking.
