Lango Lodge sits on the edge of Lango Baï , a wildlife-rich wetland clearing in the heart of Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of the Congo.
Elevated above the forest, the lodge offers an awe inspiring location with the views of the baï, a wide, marshy clearing that acts as a magnet for huge flocks of Green Pigeons and African Grey Parrots as well as herds of Forest Buffalo and Forest Elephants. Days can be spent exploring the wetlands and surrounding rainforest on foot or by kayak, following wildlife trails and discovering the ecology of the Congo Basin.

Jambo, I’m Tommy Mees, most people call me Tom.
My connection with Africa began through years of travelling across the continent.
I later spent more than twelve years managing safari camps and lodges while supporting conservation initiatives including beekeeping and tree-planting projects.
Having travelled extensively throughout Eastern and Southern Africa, I developed a deep appreciation for authentic wilderness experiences and the conservation-focused approach of the Porini Camps.
I am originally from Belgium and now based in Spain, though my heart has always remained in Africa.

FAQs — Lango Lodge
Lango Lodge is located on the edge of Lango Baï in Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of the Congo. The lodge overlooks a wide, marshy forest clearing surrounded by the Congo Basin rainforest.
Lango Baï attracts Forest Elephants and Forest Buffalo, as well as a variety of other rainforest wildlife. Birdlife can be particularly rewarding, with Green Pigeons and African Grey Parrots among the species that may be seen around the baï.
Lango Baï is a wide, marshy clearing within the Congo Basin rainforest. These natural wetland clearings are important wildlife gathering areas, attracting Forest Elephants, Forest Buffalo and large numbers of birds.
Activities at Lango Lodge include guided baï walks, kayaking and nature walks through the surrounding rainforest. These experiences provide opportunities to observe wildlife and explore the wetlands, waterways and forest around the lodge.
Lango Lodge has six raised double or twin bungalows. Built above the forest and wetlands, the bungalows are connected by elevated walkways and have en-suite bathrooms, mosquito-netted beds and private viewing decks.
The six bungalows at Lango Lodge are raised above the ground and constructed using natural materials, including locally woven raffia. Each has an en-suite bathroom with a hot shower, a mosquito-netted bed and a wraparound viewing deck overlooking the surrounding forest and Lango Baï.
Yes. Kayaking is one of the main activities at Lango Lodge, allowing guests to explore the waterways of the Congo Basin and observe rainforest wildlife from the water.
Lango Lodge is reached as part of a journey through Odzala-Kokoua National Park The approach includes travel by kayak and on foot through the baï before reaching the lodge, providing an immersive introduction to its remote rainforest setting.
