Fantastic stay- highly recommend!
SB
We had the most amazing time at RRC. It was my second visit here. Solomon and his team were really outstanding. Daniel the chef was superb and we had the best meals- his vegetarian options were fantastic. Rosie, James and Carol really looked after us so well in camp. We had Fred and John as our guides (relief guides from Porini Ol Pejeta) and they were brilliant. They were so patient with us and we saw so so much in Meru which is a real gem of a park. I can’t recommend this camp enough and can’t wait to be back.
Excellent planning and impeccable schedule implementation and logistics.

"From the first contact to the final schedule to the actual safari all were well organized, the consultants were very helpful and informative. The camps are excellent and eco friendly and you feel one with nature and wlldlife."
2 Weeks In Kenya & Botswana

Gamewatchers arranged 2 weeks of safari camps and transits for us covering Kenya and Botswana. We have traveled many places but this trip was the best of our lifetime. Gamewatchers took care of all the logistics.
Gamewatchers was excellent in all ways.

They created a great itinerary in alignment with my budget and took care of all the details. Our two-country 10 day safari was fantastic without any glitches or missed details.

More Information

Tucked away in the heart of Kenya’s 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Porini Rhino Camp offers an extraordinary safari experience where conservation, community, and comfort come together in perfect harmony. This secluded eco-camp is a haven for nature lovers and responsible travelers looking to witness Africa’s iconic wildlife while contributing directly to the protection of endangered species and the upliftment of local communities

Porini Rhino Camp lies amidst unspoiled savannahs, flanked by the Aberdare Mountains and Mount Kenya.

The camp itself is designed for exclusivity and low-impact living. With just seven guest tents and two family units nestled in a tranquil riverine woodland, Porini Rhino Camp accommodates no more than 14 guests (+ children) at a time, ensuring privacy and a deeply personal connection with nature.

Each tent offers a classic safari style with en-suite facilities, solar-powered lighting, charging points, and a private veranda.

The camp avoids permanent structures and is built with environmentally conscious materials, exemplifying Porini’s ethos of leaving the land as untouched as possible.

Guests can enjoy a wide range of immersive experiences, from expertly guided day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, to walking safaris with Maasai Guides and visits to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. For the adventurous, optional horseback or cycling safaris offer unique perspectives of the conservancy. And just beyond, in specially protected enclosures, live some of the most critically endangered animals on Earth - the last two surviving northern white rhinos under round-the-clock protection.

The camp has the benefit of a wildlife viewing hide which enables guests to observe and photograph wildlife safely, yet in close proximity. The hide has been carefully placed to enhance wildlife-viewing right in front of camp, and with the peaceful setting and the animals freely strolling in, guests can really immerse themselves in the surroundings and feel part of nature.

Back at camp, sundowners, stargazing, and fireside dining make for magical evenings under the African sky.

Beyond the wilderness, Porini Rhino Camp tells a greater story. It stands as a model of community-based conservation, where tourism directly funds healthcare, education, and livelihoods for surrounding communities. Long-term land lease agreements and local employment ensure that the benefits of conservation are shared and sustained.

The camp staff are drawn from different Kenyan communities including members of the Maasai community from our conservancy projects at Selenkay in Amboseli and Ol Kinyei and Olare Motorogi in the Mara.

Guests can connect more deeply by supporting grassroots initiatives like youth beekeeping and school development via the Wildlife Habitat Trust — where 100% of donations go to community projects.

A Wonderful Beginning to Our Safari

What a great welcome DG and his staff gave us to Kenya! From the moment we were picked up at the airstrip, we experienced the wonder. The animals at the water hole seemed to be there to greet us for lunch. For a photography buff like myself, the hide was a real treat. The nights were cold but made cozy by the hot water bottles placed in the beds. The afternoons were warm and perfect for relaxing and watching the animals at the hole and the savanna! Thanks Porini Rhino Camp for a great start to our safari!
Amazing Camp and Experience

What a fabulous camp and experience! This was the 1st of 3 camps on our 10 night safari in January and we loved it. Our tent was spacious, well appointed and comfortable (love the hot water bottles in the beds after dinner). Our tent faced onto a large watering hole that saw a huge array of animals of every kind daily. There is also a blind that one can sit in right at one end of the watering hole, but it was very hot in there when we checked it out and frankly, the views from our tent with the addition of a long lens for my camera were more than wonderful. The game drives were awesome - saw so many wonderful animals and our guides John and Fred were fabulous - great spotters and super knowledgeable. Morning drives featured a wonderful picnic breakfast. And on our 1st morning drive we were fortunate to find a beautiful cheetah who we followed for almost 2 hours that culminated in a chase and kill of a young warthog. Really cannot say enough about this camp - the staff were awesome. They really cannot do enough for you. The location is superb - I think arguably this was our favourite camp of the 3 we went to, although they were all fabulous.
Second visit as good as the first

Our second visit to this camp and everything was as good as we remember it! Gorgeous situation around a watering hole allows you to look at the animals as you dine or relax in the WiFi and reading area. The team are all so friendly and helpful. Thankyou to DG for his organisation and to the whole team for their help! George drew our adult kids attention this morning to a lion kill just opposite their tent and we were able to watch the exhausted lion, hyenas and jackals assemble as the buffalo's brother tried to protect him. Unsuccessful and we had to leave for meru as the poor beast lay dying to our interest and delight! Thanks to David and Brankson for showing us all the animals - lions, hyenas, eagles, giraffes, elephants, etc etc. There wasn't a question David couldn't answer. We had a wonderful time and will dream of returning. Wonderful food too. The waterhole makes this a very special porini camp and we spent hours in the last few days watching elephants and giraffe gather before the highlight of the early morning kill. The delight of all staff at the camp to the lion kill added to the experience, making it feel a shared enthusiasm! Thank you so much, all!
Eco camp is amazing!

Wow!! What a great place to stay and explore Ol Pejeta from. Camp manager David runs a great camp where you are catered to at every turn. Their watering hole allows some up close views of animals that come to drink from it. My first afternoon I saw like 15 elephants visiting it. You can also check out their hide for a stunningly close view of the animals that come to the hole. 2 game drives a day allow for amazing animal encounters and Sam and Ben did an awesome job of finding me my favorites. From a pride of 20 lions to herds of elephants to giraffes and more, each drive saw tons of different species of animals. And if rhinos are your thing, Ol Pejeta is the location for you.

What an experience! Wonderful game watching. John and frank were a great driver/ spotter team. Camp manager, degee kept everything running smoothly Camp located in the Ol pejeta conservancy. Saw rhino, lions, elephants, impala, Cape buffalo, giraffes, gazelle, wart hogs, cheetah. Many birds. Competent caring staff. Good food. Seriously ate lunch watching giraffes and drank hot chocolate at our tent watching an elephant walk by. It was cold at night and we appreciated the hot water bottles that were placed in the bed Can I go back today?
Great camp

We really enjoyed our stay here. The tents are rustically charming and comfortable, and it's delightful to sit on the deck, watching the passing wildlife. The bucket shower is something all safari goers should experience at some point! The wildlife can be fairly vocal at night (laughing hyenas and chattering monkeys were amongst those we heard). And as the camp is unfenced, it's quite likely you may hear animals right outside your tent overnight, eg buffalos munching. We loved getting our morning coffee delivered to the tent before heading out on a game drive and bush breakfast. All the meals were very tasty. It got quite cold at night, and the hot water bottles were very welcome. We needed to wrap up for morning game drives - the ponchos provided in the vehicles were excellent. he highlights of this camp are the waterhole, right in front of the main tent, and the game viewing hide which is well placed for wildlife photography at the waterhole. Definitely recommended.
