Did you know that, like human fingerprints, no two giraffes have the same coat pattern? Also, giraffes are already extinct in 7 African countries including Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, and Senegal.
Two of the currently recognized nine giraffe subspecies are listed as critically endangered in the latest IUCN Red List, that is, the Kordofan and Nubian giraffes while the Reticulated, Thornicroft’s, and West African giraffes are listed as Endangered and Vulnerable respectively.
