Gamewatchers shows its professionalism when the recent floods hit their camp
March 2018 | chris hill
Because of rains and flooding we had to be evacuated from the Porini Camp in Selenkay Conservancy to Amboseli by air as the flood water swirled around us and we waded knee deep to the landcruisers and were taken to the part flooded airstrip with sticky mud on runway. Thankfully the rain will benefit the local Masai for a long time.
The spring rains came early in 2018 and the river overflowed near the Porini Amboseli Camp (in Selenkay Conservancy). Suddenly parched land became a mud bath , the river flowed fast and eventually flooded. It’s tough situation that allows a competent professional team to show it’s mettle . I sent this unsolicited note to the Gamewatchers team :
‘Your team was superb from Edwin, relief manager, to the guides Daniel and Dennis and all the Masai guys who helped dig out vehicles from mud etc etc, and always a smile and customer focused support, Esther at the head office supporting too as well as Peter the competent Yellow Wings pilot.
The measure of a professional organisation is how it copes with the unexpected and you guys came out with flying colours.’
