Chole Mjini is a lodge built with 6 unique tree houses set amongst tropical gardens and Persian ruins on a tiny island off an island called Mafia. Mafia and Chole Islands are about 100 Kms south of Zanzibar, offshore from the Tanzania mainland’s Rufiji Delta.
The rooms at Chole Mjini are built on stilts and all are very private from each other. They are simple, rustic, and very comfortable. They are very open to the elements as one would expect from a luxury tree house, with comfortable beds and each room has beautiful views. Above all each room is unique, with four poster beds and have a “day bed” lounge area which is a great place to sit in the evening to watch the birds come home to roost in the trees all around Chole Mjini. The rooms at Chole Mjini face north and stay cool with open sides for cooling breezes.
Hot water is on demand which quickly heats up. There is no electricity, but oil lamps are left on overnight, and reading torches are provided. The bathrooms are downstairs with open-air shower and composting toilet.
Apart from lounging in your room or at the bar, some of the activities that can be done include, diving and snorkeling, fishing, excursions too.
