Visit Kilaguni Serena Lodge

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, now a member of the flying blue programme, was the first lodge to open inside a Kenyan National Park. It is made with the volcanic rock of the area, blending well into the environment and has great views back across the plains to Mount Kilimanjaro.

Taking its name from a Kamba word meaning ‘young rhino’, the lodge is located in the middle of the world renowned Tsavo National Park – an area covering 20,720 square kilometres that boasts a huge population of elephant. The lodge is about 250kms from Nairobi, an approximately 1 hour flying time.

Accommodation

Kilaguni boasts 56 tastefully furnished bedrooms and a fabulous terrace where you can witness the beautiful African sunsets. Kilaguni’s waterhole is considered to offer the finest terraced savannah game viewing in Kenya, and at night you can listen to the sounds of herds of buffalo and elephant grazing outside your bedroom.

The lodge is ideally built so that all the rooms, the open-air restaurant, timbered game-viewing decks and rock-built bar have uninterrupted views of the plains and the snow capped peak Mount Kilimanjaro.

Activities

There are many activities to keep you busy including game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles and bush walks accompanied by the resident naturalist, sundowners, bush dinners, tribal dances, excursions to Mzima Springs with its crystal clear water, hippos and crocodiles, visiting The Rhino Sanctuary and climbing the Chaimu Crater. There’s also the option of just lazing by the pool, treating yourself to a luxurious body treatment or picking up some souvenirs in the extensively stocked Africana Gift Shop. There is a rock paved swimming pool in the lush gardens and games to keep children occupied.

Tasty meals are prepared by professionally trained chefs and are taken in the open air restaurant where you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Mt Kilimanjaro and the plains of the national park. After dinner relax and share your day’s stories with other guests or just relax and enjoy the view of the star lit sky.
