Jambo, I’m Tommy Mees, most people call me Tom.
My connection with Africa began through years of travelling across the continent.
I later spent more than twelve years managing safari camps and lodges while supporting conservation initiatives including beekeeping and tree-planting projects.
Having travelled extensively throughout Eastern and Southern Africa, I developed a deep appreciation for authentic wilderness experiences and the conservation-focused approach of the Porini Camps.
I am originally from Belgium and now based in Spain, though my heart has always remained in Africa.

FAQs — Kenya & Africa Safari Special Offers
Why are you running safari deals and special offers in the first place? What’s the catch?
There is no catch. It's just that there is a myth that Africa and Kenya can only be visited in the high season, and this just isn't true.
The reason we offer our deals is to encourage our guests to come to this magical part of the world and enjoy its scenery and wildlife all year round, because we truly believe you could be missing out. There is lots to see and do at all times in Africa.
It's also about offering guests a great opportunity to come on safari and stay longer for a better rate. We want to encourage longer stays and year-round travel.
Doesn’t it rain all the time in Kenya during the low season? Won’t this ruin my trip?
No. True, it does rain more during the low season (April-May and November).
However, the low season is actually one of the better times for birding as migratory species are present and the wetlands are full. Many animals give birth during the rains when food is abundant. On a typical ‘rainy’ day, there might be an outpouring of rain for an hour or two, and after that, the sky is clear and sunny.

Why aren’t these discounted prices available all year?
These prices exist to encourage people to visit in the low season, where there are still bountiful opportunities and a brilliant safari to be had by all.
Most tour operators offer discounts at this time of year or during the low season/unconventional times of year. Not that many people visit in the low season because of the myth that in order to see Africa at its best, you have to arrive during the peak season.
We do also offer our 6+ Porini Camps Offer all year round, including peak season which gives unbeatable value for money.
Can special offers be combined with other discounts?
Special offers generally cannot be combined with additional promotions unless stated. We’re happy to advise on the best available option for your travel dates. Contact one of our safari specialists for more information.

Yes — Porini Camps does have a special offer for honeymooners that gives added value for newly-wed couples. Here’s what you should know:
Porini Honeymoon Offer
- Bride saves 50% on her stay when you book 4 or more nights at any Porini Camp.
