Visit Lentorre Lodge

Tucked away in the remote Olkirimatian Conservancy of Kenya’s South Rift Valley, bordering the Shompole conservation area, Lentorre Lodge offers a rare blend of seclusion, wildlife and cultural depth. Fed by clear natural springs flowing from the South Loita and Nguruman escarpments, the lodge sits within a striking landscape of riverine forest, open plains and dramatic escarpment views—an ideal setting to slow down and experience a truly untouched corner of Africa.

Lentorre is intentionally small and exclusive, accommodating a maximum of just 16 guests across four spacious villas and two family units. Each standalone villa enjoys uninterrupted wilderness views towards Shompole Mountain and features a private plunge pool, creating a strong sense of privacy and immersion in nature. As the only lodge within the conservancy, Lentorre offers an exceptional level of exclusivity, with the option for private use for small groups seeking a fully personalised safari experience.

A standout feature of the lodge is its underground photographic hide, positioned directly beside a permanent waterhole. From here, guests can observe wildlife at eye level as zebra, antelope and primates visit during the day, while evenings often bring predators such as lion, hyena, leopard and elephant—an extraordinary opportunity for both photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.

What truly sets Lentorre apart is its location within a living landscape where wildlife and local Maasai livestock coexist in balance, creating a daily movement of animals along the Ewaso Ngiro River. This harmony offers guests a deeper understanding of conservation, community and human–wildlife coexistence. Combined with diverse activities—from game drives and walking safaris to river tubing, birdwatching and cultural encounters—Lentorre Lodge delivers a safari experience that is immersive, meaningful and quietly luxurious.

Photographic Hide - Through the Lens at Lentorre

One of Africa’s finest photographic hides, offering intimate, eye-level wildlife encounters beside a permanent waterhole.

Widely regarded as one of the finest photographic hides in Africa, Lentorre Lodge’s underground hide offers an exceptional, ground-level perspective on wildlife. Discreetly positioned beside a permanent, spring-fed waterhole and accessed via a tunnel, the hide allows guests to observe animals at eye level in complete silence. Throughout the day, zebra, antelope and primates gather to drink, while evenings often bring a dramatic shift in activity as elephant, buffalo and predators such as lion, hyena and leopard arrive under the cover of darkness. The close proximity, natural behaviour and ever-changing light make this an extraordinary setting for wildlife photography, with opportunities rarely matched elsewhere on the continent. For photographers and safari enthusiasts alike, the hide provides hours of uninterrupted observation and is a defining highlight of a stay at Lentorre Lodge.
