Sasaab Camp is a new property located near Samburu, a unique destination watered by the precious rain and snows melting down the lush slopes of Mount Kenya, into this semi-desert of Kenyan northerly frontier district. Sasaab is on Samburu community land, within the Ngutuk Ongiron Group Ranch also known as the West Gate Conservancy. Guests fly for just over an hour from Nairobi into Buffalo Springs - although the option of long drive from Nairobi is also scenic and crosses the Equator.

The lodge is built using locally sourced materials and with an exciting Moroccan influence the Carr-Hartley signature of attention to detail and elegance is the trademark of Sasaab.

Accommodation

Sasaab accommodates up to 18 guests in nine individually located tents with magnificent views of the river and the true African wilderness, each over 100 square meters. There is wireless internet and own plunge pool and privacy. Electricity is solar powered, offering outlets for charging equipment in each tent. The uniquely designed tents are ideal for game viewing and bird-watching as well as relaxing.

The mess tent provides a warm and friendly atmosphere. Meals are prepared with the finest fresh ingredients and served in the privacy of various different areas of the mess tent or can be al fresco under the stars! Strong emphasis is placed on the highest quality and freshest products and the dishes are of a Moroccan influence.

Activities

Sasaab offers a true wilderness experience with excursions into the famous Samburu Reserve known for its large herds of Elephant and the endangered Grevy Zebra.

Activities include twice-daily game drives - which include night drives, walking safaris along the river or in the grasslands, day trips to Samburu Reserve, mountain biking, camel riding and cultural excursions. Back at the lodge you may choose to relax by the main swimming pool, enjoy beauty treatments in the privacy of your own tent or find a corner of your own to unwind.

To end your day, there can be nowhere better to enjoy sundowners, either from a rocky kopje a short walk away or the elevated terrace at the lodge.

Sasaab is accessible by the twice daily scheduled flights. Private charters may land at the Sasaab airstrip ten minutes away from the camp.
