A world apart from the noisy minibuses chugging through Amboseli National Park, this simple eco-camp is still close enough to monitor animal movements. Part of the Selenkay Conservancy, where off-road driving is permitted, ten simple tents (one a family unit) echo mobile safari camping of yesteryear. Clean water is pumped from a borehole, lighting is solar-powered and shower reservoirs are filled on demand. There’s a “signal tree” for getting mobile reception, but otherwise the camp is off-grid. Staff are largely from the Masai community, giving visitors an authentic take on this part of the world.
