Visit Ilaroi House

Opening June 2026

Set high above the vast Maasai steppe, Ilaroi Private Reserve offers a rare and deeply private safari experience in northern Tanzania. Perched at 4,025 feet above sea level and located approximately 160 km southeast of Arusha, this 8,500-acre unfenced reserve provides uninterrupted views across one of East Africa’s most striking landscapes.

Ilaroi is designed as an exclusive-use property, meaning only one group stays at the lodge at any time. With just five spacious luxury suites, the reserve accommodates up to 10–12 guests, making it ideal for families, small groups of friends, or private celebrations seeking a secluded safari setting.

Access is simple yet adventurous: a 20-minute charter flight from Arusha lands directly at the reserve’s private airstrip. Once there, guests are immersed in a landscape that supports an impressive diversity of wildlife. The reserve is home to healthy populations of lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo, alongside species such as fringe-eared oryx, lesser and greater kudu, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, eland and numerous antelope. Birdlife is equally rich, with lilac-breasted rollers, bee-eaters, falcons, owls and several species of guinea fowl regularly seen.

The lodge itself combines comfort with a strong connection to the surrounding wilderness. Guests can unwind between safari activities in the spa, jacuzzi, swimming pool, wine cellar, library, or around the fire pit, while the reserve’s moderate climate makes Ilaroi comfortable to visit throughout the year.

For travellers seeking privacy, exceptional wildlife viewing and expansive landscapes, Ilaroi offers a uniquely personal safari experience.
