Kenya North & South Safari: 7 days / 6 nights
Day 1
Early morning pick up from Nairobi and head to Samburu National Reserve – a relatively remote and less-visited area away from the crowds and one that offers excellent game viewing. Check in to Samburu Sopa Lodge where we will spend 2 nights (Full Board basis). Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon Game drive in the Samburu Reserve. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge. (B, L, D).
Day 2
Early breakfast at the lodge followed by morning and afternoon game drives exploring Samburu National Reserve on the look-out for elephants and big cats as well as the unusual animals for which Samburu is noted such as the endangered Grevy’s Zebra and the Reticulated Giraffe. Lunch is at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge. (B, L, D).
Day 3
Breakfast and then drive to The Aberdare National Park, part of the Aberdare Mountain Range and a region of stunning and diverse landscape where jagged peaks soar up to 3,930m and deep ravines cut through the forested slopes. Lunch at The Aberdare Country Club and then later transfer to The Ark for a night of game viewing from the lodge’s precincts. There are viewing decks and balconies that overlook a floodlit waterhole and salt lick to which many animals are attracted by day and night. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4
After breakfast we set off towards the stunning scenery of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, arriving at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon we head out to explore Lake Nakuru National Park. The woodland and grassland surrounding the lake are home to an abundance of wildlife including black rhino, white rhino, hippo, leopard, lion and the rare Rothschild giraffe. After a sundowner at a scenic point we head back to Sarova Lion Hill Lodge for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D).
Day 5
After an early breakfast we continue our safari by heading to the world-famous Maasai Mara, arriving for lunch at Keekorok Lodge where we will stay for 2 nights (Full Board). At the lodge you can observe wildlife from the Elephant Deck or at the Hippo Bar which overlooks a waterhole. Alternatively, enjoy the swimming pool or other optional activities (payable locally) such as the spa or nature walks. In the afternoon you will have a game drive in the Mara Reserve. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge. (B, L, D).
Day 6 *Optional Balloon Safari and Champagne Breakfast.
Early breakfast at the lodge followed by a morning game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve returning to the lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon you will take another game drive in the Mara Reserve. You can expect to see a wide variety of Kenya’s animals – great and small – such as elephants, buffalo, giraffe and plains game and we will go in search of the big cats for which the Mara is famous. Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge. (B, L, D).
Day 7
After breakfast we transfer back to Nairobi. Drop off at the international airport for your flight home. Alternatively, fly direct from the Masai Mara to the Kenya coast to relax on the beach for a few days before flying back to Nairobi (optional and at a supplement). (B)
