An African safari is the perfect experience for families, and a lovely way to create life-long memories. Children aged over 8 years are welcome at all our Porini Camps, either sharing a tent with adults or (for older children) in their own tent. For families wanting more space we have introduced Family Tents.
Porini Mara Camp, Porini Lion Camp, Porini Amboseli Camp and Porini Rhino Camp each feature family units comprised of two Twin / Double tents connected together by an additional private lounge area.
These are ideal for families with children, extended families or groups of adults travelling together.
The family unit at Porini Lion Camp is an I-shaped tent located 20 metres from the main areas. The unit is made of high quality canvas and is spacious, measuring 144 square metres. It consists of two rooms with a lounge in between. Each of the two rooms has a king size bed and a single bed.
The tent is tastefully furnished and has solar-powered lighting, en suite facilities (with hot shower and flush toilet) and a private veranda. The unit is ideal for families or a group of friends travelling together and is at the same price per person as our other tents.
The family units at Porini Mara Camp, Porini Amboseli Camp and Porini Rhino Camp are H-shaped tents. The units are made of high quality canvas and are spacious, each wing measuring 64 square metres and the lounges are 16 square metres.
Like at Porini Lion Camp, they consist of two rooms with a lounge in between. Each of the two rooms has a king size bed and a single bed.
The tents are tastefully furnished and have solar-powered lighting, en suite facilities (with hot shower and flush toilet) and private verandas.
The units are ideal for families or a group of friends travelling together and is at the same price per person as our other tents.
Family Tents are priced the same as two Twin/Double tents, but are available on a first-come first-served basis, so do book early!
