On the Southern coast of Mozambique, Dugong Beach Lodge is a tropical hideaway located within 30,000 hectares of the Vilanculous Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary, the first privately managed specially protected National Park in Mozambique.

With 14 luxurious chalets, all air conditioned and with direct access to the beach at low tide, guests can enjoy a truly barefoot experience in this conservation area. Non motorised water activities, including snorkelling, kayaking or sailing are all on offer from the lodge, diving and fishing can also be arranged offsite.

The lodge offers nature drives within the Wildlife Sanctuary where guests may have the opportunity to view Livingstone’s Eland, Blue Wildebeest, Plains Zebra, Giraffe, Nyala, Red Duiker, Steenbok and Grey Duiker, as well as 300 species of birds including Flamingos and Pelicans.

The Vilanculos Coastal Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wealth of marine wildlife including magnificent schools of fish species, dolphins, turtles and the elusive, endangered marine mammal, the dugong, also referred to as the “sea cow”.

14 Luxury Chalets – air-conditioned chalets with direct access to the beach (during low tide) via individual pathways.  Each chalet offers a private deck with day bed for guests to relax with views over the turquoise ocean.  Two of the chalets have a private plunge pool.

Location

Located on the mainland of Mozambique, the lodge is accessible by daily flights between Vilanculos and Johannesburg. There are also flights connecting Nelspruit and Vilanculos. A 30-40 min boat ride offers the transfer between Vilanculos and Dugong Lodge.
