On a pristine white sand beach, on the shores of the most beautiful turquoise sea of the Bazaruto Archipelago, is Azure Benguerra Island, a stunning lodge combining both contemporary style and rustic charm.
This was the first eco-friendly resort in Mozambique, built entirely by hand by the local community and is operated in partnership with them. It is a community based project where the local islanders benefit as much as the visitors. The resort’s dedication to conservation and the community lies at the heart of everything they do. Their primary focus is on the community and the preservation of the pristine environment in which they operate and guests have the opportunity to support the Rainbow Fund, which supports local and environmental projects including the island clinic and school. Guests also contribute to the marine reserve by paying the Bazaruto National Park fee.
Accommodation:
3 Beach Villas – Set in a fantastic location at the end of the property next to the Spa, it is wonderfully private and perfect for honeymooners. The Beach Villa is the smallest of the villas, but still offers all of the creature comforts.
3 Luxury Beach Villas – Furnished in contemporary style and just steps from the beach.
10 Infinity Beach Villas – These offer the best beachfront locations and are furnished in afro-contemporary style. They look out over a stunning infinity pool towards the beach and sea beyond.
2 Royal Beach Villas – Each with it’s own infinity edge pools and magnificent sea views. They are 172 square metres, making them the largest and most lavish of all the villas.
1 Villa Amizade – Is a 2 bedroom en-suite villa, perfect for families or couples requiring more space and facilities and is located at the western end of the property, with fantastic views out to sea and towards the setting sun.
1 Presidential Villa – it has been described as one of the best villas anywhere in the Indian Ocean. The epitome of style and luxury, with its own unique décor, there are 3 en-suite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, a media room, sitting/dining area with ‘wine bar’, and huge infinity pool spanning the front of the villa. It is located just footsteps from the beach at the end of our property to ensure maximum privacy, with a fantastic treehouse to catch the afternoon breezes and panoramic views to Bazaruto Island and the Indian Ocean beyond.

Location
Located on Benguerra Island, Mozambique, the lodge is accessible by daily flights between Vilanculos and Johannesburg. There are also flights connecting Nelspruit and Vilanculos. A 10 min helicopter flight offers the transfer between Vilanculos and Benguerra island.
