Arusha Serena Hotel, Resort & Spa

Arusha Serena Hotel, Resort & Spa is a lakeside retreat on the shores of Lake Duluti, a tranquil crater lake surrounded by forest just 20 km from Arusha and 60 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport. As the gateway to the Tanzanian Northern Safari Circuit, the hotel is convenient to both Arusha and Mount Meru National Parks and Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The vibrant safari town of Arusha is the bustling starting and ending point for safaris and cultural tours into Serengeti National Park. While known as the gateway to Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit, it is also home to a colourful array of street markets, museums, craft shops, Makonde carving workshops, street cafes, restaurants and bars.

This elegant hotel is set within beautiful gardens on the shores of the lake. The resort was once a coffee farm, and the building has retained the distinguished ambiance of the colonial era with authentic traditional furnishings and decor.

Accommodation

Each of the 42 meticulously crafted guest rooms has been inspired by the romance and splendour of the 1920’s. Designed in the manner of a stone cottage, the rooms are clustered around a village square adorned with beautifully tended lawns and extensive gardens. In warm hues of red and crisp shades of white, rooms feature classic country house design touches like tile floors, leaded windows and French doors giving way to garden and lake views.

Each room has one King bed or two Double beds, en-suite facilities and private terrace with lake or garden view. Modern amenities like complimentary Internet, flat-screen televisions with cable and satellite channels, tea & coffee making facilities along with personalised touches like comfortable robes and slippers enhance the guest experience.

Dining

The resort’s restaurant offers one of Arusha’s most enchanting dining experiences. Situated in the traditionally stone-built central reception area, the elegant dining room has an enchanting fireplace and lake and garden views. Experience vibrant specialties that reflect Tanzanian culture and cooking styles, diverse international dishes to suite every palate and extensive beer, wine and cocktail lists encompassing the finest local and international selections.

Breakfast and lunch are presented buffet-style and feature a wide range of international choices. In typical safari style there is a full English breakfast as well as European options while the lunch menus will typically include meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options.

The table d’hôte dinner menus offer a salad buffet, soup, entrée, pudding, cheese and biscuits and tea or coffee. Vegetarian options are always available. The majority of the meat and dairy products as well as the fruits and vegetables are sourced from the communities that surround the reserve.

Breakfast can be taken on the shores of beautiful Lake Duluti. Just a short stroll from the lodge, you will find your own safari chairs, table and a full team of chefs ready to prepare a full English breakfast just for you.

Activities

The resort offers a variety of recreational activities to allow you to discover the majestic beauty and rich culture of the Lake Duluti region.  Guests can enjoy lake-side walks, canoeing, mountain biking, visits to local landmarks and attractions, spa treatments, cooking lessons and even Swahili lessons.
