Kulala Desert Lodge is situated on the 37 000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve, south of Sesriem. It is the only lodge in the Sossusvlei area that has such a close and spectacular view over the Namib sand sea, with access via it’s own private gate. The setting and proximity to the red desert dunes, literally only a few steps away, make this lodge an ideal desert destination.
The Kulala Wilderness Reserve was once used for subsistence goat farming and had very little indigenous wildlife. In 1996 Wilderness stepped in to rehabilitate the area and today the land and its wildlife have returned to their former glorious natural state and this seemingly barren landscape is once again teeming with life. Guests can venture into the remote and dramatic landscape on the look out for wildlife, take a leisurely stroll near camp on the Tsauchab River Trail or simply have a cool drink on the wraparound veranda to see what desert-adapted animals will show up at the waterhole next.
This down to earth, comfortable camp offers guests a wonderful desert experience which also includes the opportunity for sleeping out under the stars of the magnificent Namibian night sky.
