Food & Beverage
With aspirations of being the first Michelin-starred venue in Nairobi, Hemingways is bringing new vigour to the dining scene in Kenya. The menus are contemporary European in style, characterised by a focus on retro-classics with an ultra-modern twist. The Brasserie serves some of the best steaks in Kenya and the hotel has its own patisserie producing fresh breads, hand-crafted cakes and delicate Viennoisseries.
Breakfast
The Hemingways breakfast is a show-stopper. Buffets are banished in place of four distinct breakfast profiles all cooked to order – Healthy, Power, Energy and New York. There’s also the à la carte breakfast menu including eggs galore, smoked salmon and a stacked bacon sandwich.
Afternoon Tea
Hemingways is the place to be between 3 and 5 o’clock from Monday to Saturday. Out come the freshly-baked scones, finger sandwiches and cake stands adorned with hand-crafted miniature cakes, gateaux opera, fruit delice, mini-eclairs and fruit tartlets. These are complimented with an exotic selection of teas and infusions, or perhaps indulge in a glass of champagne.
The Brasserie
Offering European classics with a modern twist the brasserie proudly focuses on simply cooked free-range products sourced directly from Kenyan farms. The feature of the Brasserie is the Josper oven – this indoor barbecue is the only one of its kind in Kenya, specially imported by Hemingways to create a unique char-grilled flavour for its high quality meats.
Staples of the Brasserie menu include steak tartar, bouillabaisse and omelette au choix. The menu also features forgotten favourites such as lobster, prawn or crab cocktails and fish and chips.
Bar
The contemporary bar has the feel of an exclusive private club. Its temperature controlled wine cellar houses a range of fine wines and champagnes expertly selected by the hotel’s sommelier. There are also rare cognacs and single malt whiskies which some guests like to enjoy with a cigar on the smoking terrace.
An impressive cocktail menu features classic favourites as well as a host of modern and lighter ones with which to get acquainted. The menu is reminiscent of days gone by with a retro twist on a Mint Julep, Papa Doble, Brandy Alexander and – the particular favourite of Ernest Hemingway – the Mojito.
Spa
In the serenity of the spa, professional beauticians perform the sacred rituals and secret arts of cleansing and reinvigoration with a broad range of beauty treatments to relax body and soul.
