The 10 day safari starts with a night at Nairobi Tented Camp - the only camp within the wonderful Nairobi National Park. It then continues with 3 nights at Selenkay Conservancy and Amboseli staying in the Porini Amboseli Camp (with game drives, escorted walk to a Maasai village and night game drive as well as a day in Amboseli National Park for viewing elephants close up). The tour then has 3 nights at Porini Mara Camp in Ol Kinyei Conservancy, Mara and 2 nights at Porini Lion Camp in Olare Orok Conservancy, Mara (both camps with game drives, walks plus night drive). Game drives are taken within the private wilderness of the conservancies as well as in the official Masai Mara National Reserve.
10 days (9 nights) - Daily Departures
Day 1
Met at Nairobi International Airport and transferred to Nairobi Tented Camp for 1 night. Enjoy game drives within 30 minutes of leaving the airport ! Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 2
Transfer by road from Nairobi to Selenkay Conservancy (100 miles, 4 hours) arriving at lunch time at Porini Amboseli Camp. Later in the afternoon, and after settling into camp, you will take an escorted walk with Maasai warriors to visit an authentic Maasai village and then have an evening game drive and sundowner in the Selenkay Conservancy followed by a night drive. All game drives are in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicles.
Day 3
Morning walk across the Selenkay conservancy escorted by Maasai warriors and have a picnic lunch at a treehouse by a waterhole. After lunch drive back to camp to relax and then take an evening game drive in Selenkay Conservancy which has a wide array of wildlife including lions, cheetahs, giraffes, lesser kudu, gerenuk and some less common species like African Wildcat . Dinner and overnight in camp.
Day 4
Awake to the noisy calls of the birds. After an early breakfast, we drive through the bush on our private track into Amboseli National Park, for a full morning of game viewing in the camp's 4x4 safari vehicle with an experienced driver-guide. Following a picnic lunch in the park, we return to camp later in the afternoon. In the evening you will go on a night game drive to look for nocturnal animals such as aardvarks, serval cats, caracals, bat-eared foxes, African wild cats, and other species. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5
An early breakfast and then drive back to Nairobi's Wilson airport for the afternoon flight (approx 1hr) to the Mara and transfer to Porini Mara Camp in Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Evening game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy, sundowner, and night game drive. Dinner and overnight at Porini Mara Camp.
Day 6
Early morning wake-up call by the camp staff for breakfast and then drive into the Mara Reserve for a full day of game-viewing, taking a picnic lunch. Return to camp later in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Morning and evening game drives in a 4x4 safari vehicle with an experienced driver-guide to explore the Ol Kinyei Conservancy which has a wide variety of the wildlife species for which the Mara is famous, including elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, eland, topi, hartebeest, gazelle, waterbuck, Cape buffalo and warthog. In the evening you will gather round the camp fire and then have dinner under the stars before taking a night game drive to see the nocturnal animals. Back to camp and retire for the night in your safari tent.
Day 8
Early morning call and game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy, then return to camp for breakfast. Leave Porini Mara Camp and drive through Naboisho Conservancy and on to Olare Orok Conservancy arriving at Porini Lion Camp for lunch. In the afternoon you will take a game drive in the 33,000 acres of the Olare Orok and Motorogi conservancies followed by a sundowner and night drive back to camp. Overnight Porini Lion Camp. This is one of the best places in Africa to see lions and there are three resident prides which have made Olare Orok their home range.
Day 9
Another early breakfast and then spend a full day inside the Mara Reserve stopping for a picnic lunch. Back to camp in the evening for drinks, dinner and overnight.
Day 10
Leave the camp after breakfast and drive through the Mara Reserve to Ol Kiombo airstrip and fly back to Nairobi. Alternatively (at a supplement) fly direct to the beautiful Kenya coast for a beach stay after your safari.
