Mara Under Canvas by Tanganyika Wilderness Camps is situated in the Mara Triangle area, in the Serengeti National Park.
It is the closest camp to the river Mara where each year enormous columns of wildebeest cross the river, negotiating the jaws of the hungry crocodiles, in order to get to the pastures on the other side in what could be considered the climax of the Great Migration.
This mobile / temporary camp is open from June to November. It allows visitors to be in the proximity of the Great Migration and to be able to explore remote areas and the beautiful settings of Seregenti with a large amount of resident fauna. The camp has only ten double tents and a family tent which assures the intimacy and exclusivity of this intense experience.
10 spacious tents with private bathroom and large double or twin beds. Each tent has a camp shower, wash basin and toilet and uses solar energy. All rooms feature a verandah with views. A Family Unit of two interconnecting tents are an option for families or friends travelling together.
The dining room and lounge are situated in two public tents with comfortable and tasteful furnishings. A selection of board games and books are available to be enjoyed between safaris. In the evening a camp fire is lit around which appetizers are served and guests can relax and discuss the sightings of the day.
Guests at Mara Under Canvas enjoy morning and evening game drives in the Serengeti, bush breakfasts and sundowners at scenic spots and visits to the Moru & Maasai Kopjes. Hot Air Balloon excursions can be arranged (at an additional cost, pre-booking required).
