Kicheche Laikipia is an eco-award-winning small luxurious tented camp set in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, in the shadows of Mount Kenya at the foot of an indigenous forest overlooking a waterhole.
The camp has just six sumptuous tented suites providing the ultimate bush experience for a maximum of twelve guests.
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is 90,000 acres of wilderness and offers an incredibly uncrowded environment to enjoy quality game viewing. The Kenya Conservancy is home to Kenya’s largest population of Black Rhino, large numbers of elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard, african wilddog and plentiful plains game. There are also rarer Northern species such as Grevys Zebra, Jacksons Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx.
The Conservancy lies on the Equator 30 minutes drive from Nanyuki airstrip and affords wonderful views of Mt Kenya. Click here for further information on the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
Accommodation
The Kenya camp has just six luxurious tents nestled at the foot of indigenous forest overlooking a large waterhole in the centre of the Conservancy. Each tent is beautifully presented and includes en suite facilities and a private verandah from which you can relax and observe the wildlife visiting the nearby waterhole, especially during the dry season.
In the communal area there is a large interconnected lounge / dining tent which has a fireplace in the cosy lounge section. Power and lighting is available 24 hours and is generated by a solar set-up. Recharging facilities are available in the lounge tent.
Activities
The Camp hosts – along with the experienced guides – will co-ordinate your activities during your stay.
Game-viewing activities include game drives by day and also by night (with a focus on nocturnal species not seen on regular day drives). Drives are taken in open-sided and open roofed 4×4 vehicles. (Vehicles are shared with other guests though exclusive use of a vehicle is available at an extra charge).
Game walks are permitted on the Conservancy to get closer to the smaller flora and fauna often missed when in a vehicle.
Other activities available on the Conservancy (some at a supplement) include a Lion Tracking program which monitors the lions of the area (some have been collared with receivers); the Endangered Species Boma where guests can see the World’s last Northern White Rhinos; the Wildlife Educational Centre and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
