Basecamp Explorer Masai Mara

Basecamp Explorer Masai Mara is located on the land of the Koiyaki group ranch close to Talek town, a thriving agricultural community which bustles with authentic rural life.

Visitors will experience the local people going about their daily activities and are actively encouraged to visit various community projects within the local area.

In an effort to revive some of the natural habitat, Basecamp Explorer has been involved with a tree-planting project in the area surrounding the camp. This is improving the natural environment and is encouraging a wealth of birdlife back to the vicinity.

ACCOMMODATION

Guests at Basecamp Explorer Masai Mara are accommodated within twelve Double Riverside Tents. The canvas tents are built on raised wooden platforms along the banks of the Talek River, the natural border to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

The guest tents are en suite with wc and safari shower (solar-heated) and each tent features a private balcony from where there are views across the river and into the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Groups or families with children can be accommodated in the Family Riverside Tent which has two double bedrooms and a shared bathroom area.

ACTIVITIES

Basecamp Explorer Masai Mara operates daily shared game drives within the Maasai Mara National Reserve which is accessed from the camp via the Talek gate, approximately 2 kilometers away.

The camp arranges transfers to various community projects in and around Talek (please note that entrance fees to certain projects may be payable locally).
