Animal Encounters

Jan 2018 | Steve Hayes

We spent 2 nights in 4 Porini camps: Nairobi Tented Camp, Selenkay, Ol Pejeta and Mara camps, which worked out perfectly. We could offer no suggestions for how to improve the service.
We never thought we would get so close to the animals, thanks to the great dedicated guides.
Imagine seeing a python the first day, and a newly born elephant with the pink ears the 3rd day, and the giant eagle owl. The 4th day we saw the great elephants in Amboseli, and then were thrilled to spot the rare fringe-eared Oryx. We had a mating performance by 2 golden Crowned cranes, and also by 2 lions. Several cheetah encounters with first 2 brothers and then later a family playing together.
We tracked lions at night and during the day. We think the privacy of the conservancies is the way to go, as we saw almost no other vehicles, except in the Maasai Mara Reserve.
