The Okonjima Nature Reserve covers over 200 square kilometres of undulating plains, mountainous outcrops, and riverine thickets and is  a protected area set amongst the rugged commercial farmlands of central Namibia . It is home to the AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to long-term conservation of Namibia’s large carnivores and other endangered species.  It is dedicated to housing orphan animals, cheetah and leopard rescue and release, youth education and research projects.

Okonjima Nature Reserve is nestled in the unspoilt beauty of the Omboroko Mountains, part of the well-known Waterberg Plateau.  It is centrally located within the country, halfway between Windhoek and Etosha National Park.

Okonjima  offers a range of safari properties, ranging from self catering camp sites to an exclusive Bush Suite – there is somewhere to stay for most budgets and taste.

The Reserve’s activities include Game drives and guided bush walks, which offer visitors an intimate, up-close perspective of Namibia’s wildlife and, especially, its most protected species.  It is recommended to stay for 2 nights to fully appreciate the location and experience on offer at Okonjima.
