A wonderful wilderness safari experience exploring the best wildlife areas in Kenya and Tanzania, staying in small, exclusive eco camps, followed by a relaxing beach break on the Spice Island of Zanzibar at the boutique Z Hotel.

Safari Itinerary

The Safari combines Kenya and Tanzania’s finest wildlife areas:

  • The Mara, famous for the spectacular wildebeest migration between the end of June and early October every year and excellent for lion, leopard and cheetah.

  • Tarangire National Park, where herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators - and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

    Accommodation is in camps that complement each other perfectly - staying first at Mara Porini Camp in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, and then Porini Lion Camp in the Olare Orok Conservancy and Kirurumu Tarangire Camp.

Zanzibar

After your safari, you will journey onto the Spice Island of Zanzibar, to the white sandy beaches and blue sea of the Indian Ocean. Spend 5 nights at the boutique Z Hotel. This 35 room boutique hotel located on the northern tip of the Island, blends elegant, contemporary design with traditional Zanzibari features to create a unique cool and relaxing environment. Set in a lush, tropical garden with direct access to the white powder beaches and warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the Z hotel has been finished to a high specification by an international team of architects and interior designers.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive into Nairobi off your international flight. You will be met on arrival by one of our friendly representatives who will transfer you to the Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel for a day to relax and rest after your flight *. (*depending on your international flights, your stay at the Nairobi Hotel in Standard room can be at the beginning or at the end of your itinerary).

Day 2

Pick up from hotel and transfer to Wilson Airport to board schedule flight departing at 10h00 to arrive Mara Airstrip at 11h00. On arrival in Masai Mara Game Reserve you will be met by your driver guide from Porini Mara Camp and transfer to the camp arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive in Ol Kinyei Conservancy, followed by a sundowner and night game drive on the way back to the camp. Dinner and overnight Porini Mara Camp.

Day 3

A full day in the Masai Mara with game drives in 4x4 vehicles. All meals and overnight at Porini Mara Camp.

Day 4

Enjoy an early morning walk, returning to the camp in time for breakfast. After breakfast leave camp and spend the day game-viewing in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve with picnic lunch in the park and then transfer to Porini Lion Camp arriving in the late afternoon for check in, later dinner and overnight at Porini Lion Camp.

Day 5

Morning and afternoon game drives in the exclusive Olare Orok Conservancy, away from the minibuses and tourist vehicles seen in the park, and with an excellent chance of sighting lions, cheetahs and leopards all of which are found in the conservancy. Sundowner and night game drive. All meals and overnight at Porini Lion Camp.

Day 6

Early morning game drive in the Olare Orok Conservancy followed by breakfast and then drive into the park to the Ol Kiombo Airstrip to board schedule flight departing at 11h00 to arrive Wilson Airport at 12h15 assisted to connect to another schedule flight departing at 12h40 to arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport at 13h35. Upon arrival in Tanzania airport, met by your driver guide in a private safari vehicle and depart on safari, passing through Arusha city centre to take picnic lunches enroute. Proceed to arrive Tarangire National Park in the late afternoon, enjoy game viewing drive to arrive at Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge for check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Full day's game viewing drive in Tarangire National Park. Optional guided ethno botanical walk outside the park boundary around the camp. All meals and overnight at Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge.

Day 8

Full day's game viewing drive in Tarangire National Park. Optional guided ethno botanical walk outside the park boundary around the camp. All meals and overnight at Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge.

Day 9

After breakfast check out with picnic lunch boxes and transfer to Arusha Airport to board schedule flight departing at 13h00 to arrive Zanzibar Airport at 14h35. On arrival into Zanzibar, you will be met and transferred to The Z Hotel for check in and refreshments, later dinner and overnight. (Deluxe Garden View Room on Half Board basis).

Day 10

Full day at leisure in Zanzibar as you enjoy the hotel’s facility. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at the hotel (lunch is not included).

Day 11

Full day at leisure in Zanzibar as you enjoy the hotel’s facility. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at the hotel (lunch is not included).

Day 12

Full day at leisure in Zanzibar as you enjoy the hotel’s facility. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at the hotel (lunch is not included).

Day 13

Full day at leisure in Zanzibar as you enjoy the hotel’s facility. Breakfast, dinner and overnight at the hotel (lunch is not included).

Day 14

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport to board your onward international flight back home.
