Amboseli Porini Camp and Kicheche Camp, Mara Jan 2008
My husband and I spent three weeks in Kenya and Tanzania over the Christmas
/ New Year period and had ( yet another ) amazing time , feeling safe
and extremely well looked after at all times. One of the highlights was
3 nights in Amboseli Porini with Oscar and his wonderful team. We also
paid a return visit to fantastic Kicheche and had some spectacular game
sightings, well over 100 cats over 5 days.

Honeymoon Safari – Nakuru, Porini Lion Camp Maasai Mara &
Kipungani, Lamu, January 2008
With regard to the service from Gamewatchers in handling our booking and
payment before we came: Maurice was our link person and we were very happy
with the handling of our booking.
Safari experience (food, transfers, accommodation, game drives): All in
all, this was excellent. Everything went very smoothly and it was an added
bonus to be picked up by Masai at the airstrip! At first we thought it
was 'dress' put on for the occasion but realised that most of the staff
at Porini Lion Camp wore Masai dress all the time. It really added to
the flavour of the safari and was great to see local people employed in
this way. All of the staff were so friendly and could not do enough for
us - they genuinely wanted us to have the best time possible and did all
they could to accommodate us. All transfers were excellent - and we were
impressed that Gamewatchers were always there to meet us on time etc.
Accommodation was superb and again, everything was well maintained and
the guys were always on hand to help if necessary. As for the food - what
can we say - sublime! How does the chef cook up such good food when he
is not surrounded by fancy kitchens etc!? Game drives were brilliant -
we had two men called John and Jackson who could not have been more helpful.
They were always on time in the morning and were keen to do what we suggested
- plus you could tell that they really enjoyed their job. Absolutely no
complaints and great to be using a company that employs local people so
well. Also, great not to hear a generator in camp!
Best part of Safari experience: The Masai Mara speaks for itself so it
was great to be in a place I had heard so much about and it didn’t
disappoint. We saw 21 lion over our three days and 3 cheetah, and plenty
of other animals - our guides were so knowledgeable about all animals
as well. Although we enjoyed our two nights at Nakuru the three nights
in the Mara were our highlight. What made it for me was the fact we were
catered for and driven around by local masai people who knew their stuff
and were very friendly.
I emailed Gamewatchers a week before we were due to travel to check on
the situation in Kenya and received an excellent email from you which
assured us that it was fine to come to Kenya. We never really considered
cancelling and just feel sorry for all those who did! Due to the political
situation in Kenya, Porini Lion Camp was empty of guests for two of our
nights which was nice for us, but not good for Gamewatchers. It did seem
a shame that people were cancelling because, during our whole trip, we
were not really aware of any problems in Kenya; it was not an issue. We
really hope that things settle down in the country so that the tourists
once again come flooding back into this wonderful country which has so
much to offer.
Thanks also for setting up the Kipangani section of our holiday - what
an awesome place that is - once again, the staff there were so helpful
and unbelievably friendly (especially when one is used to living in the
UK!). We also called in at your office in the Village Market and met with
Mohanjeet, Maurice and Benson. Once again, we appreciated chatting with
them and they were very helpful and friendly.
All in all - a wonderful holiday with no complaints at all. Fantastic,
authentic, friendly, professional, awesome, helpful and good value for
money. Need I say more!? Thank you so much to all who helped to make our
honeymoon such a great time.
God bless, Steve and Ruth Lancaster

Dear Nina,
My daughter and I got back from Kenya last week and would like to thank
you for organising our stay. We had only booked from 28Dec - 4th January,
but we ended up staying a further 10 days and we did a safari to Tsavo
East. We had such a fabulous time. Although the crisis that arose from
the elections caused some concern at the beginning, we were not going
to let it spoil our trip. I do hope resolution can be found and that the
bad publiciity does not harm Kenya for much longer.
Kenya is such a wondrous place, the people are friendly and one never
forgets the smell of Africa. We will be back, and will ensure we book
through you again.
Once again, many thanks, and hopefully it will not be too long before
we book with you again.
Sincere regards, Karen Paddock

Mobile Camping Safari – Nairobi, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru &
Maasai Mara, January 20th 2008
We are writing to express our thanks to you and your team at Gamewatchers
for the fabulous trip we have just had to Kenya.
As you will know we had to give some extra thought with regards to travelling
at what is a difficult time for Kenya. This was of particular relevance
with regard to the UK FCO advice that was in place when we started the
trip. However, with excellent advice and back up from the Gamewatchers
office we decided to travel and are very glad we did. We would urge anyone
wrestling with the decision at the moment not to consider cancelling at
all. The Kenyan people need the support both financially and emotionally
more than ever at the moment and you can do no better than choose Gamewatchers
to organise such a trip. You will also be missing out on a magical holiday.
The mobile camping safari was wonderful, it far exceeded our expectations
and Stanley, Fanwell and Teddy went far and beyond the call of duty to
look after us. From Maurice and his wonderful itinery and arrangements,
to Benson with his never ending patience and organisation on the ground
in Kenya; Stanley, Fanwell and Teddy with their good humour, good company
and professionalism to last but not least, John our safari guide to Samburu
with his shy, quiet demenour and impeccable manners we have received nothing
but efficiency, kindness and tireless hard work from your team.
We would like to thank you all and to wish you a peaceful solution to
the problems. Kenya is a beautiful country with fabulous people. We hope
to return very soon and will have no hesitation in asking for your help
to arrange it for us.

Porini Camp, October 2007
We had a fabulous holiday which well exceeded our expectations. The safari
itself was amazing and the camps were lovely but still allowed us to gain
a more authentic experience with the Masai people who were all wonderful!
In fact the staff as a whole were all excellent and very friendly and
all the guides we encountered were very good and went out of their way
to help and their knowledge was superb. There are just too many to thank
and name individually! All of our transfers and game drives were excellent
too.
The food, we couldn't believe the quality considering we were in the
middle of nowhere. Well done to all involved with this.
As for the best part of our safari we couldn't possibly pick one thing
as the experience as a whole was just so good - game drives and all those
amazing animals, accommodation, food and the wonderful Kenyan people!
We used your website which was very good especially all the information
about health, visas and the packing list was very useful having never
been on safari before.
Well done to everyone involved in our holiday it was more than we could
have imagined and an extra special honeymoon.
Amboseli Porini Camp, Porini Lion Camp, October 2007
My mother and I have just returned from our vacation on Oct. 12th As
far as the camp leaders, guides and the Maasai, we love them. They proved
to be so knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant and willing to help us
in any way we needed. They anticipated our needs and were always checking
to make sure we were happy. Our guides went out of their way to find game
and have us experience everything we wanted including seeing 3 wildebeast
crossings, many prides of lions, saw a cheetah kill, and so much wildlife
that I know that I would highly recommend these camps to everyone who
wants to visit East Africa. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service.
I looked forward each day to going out on the game drives and sundowners.
I looked forward to seeing my Maasai warrior standing outside my tent
at night knowing he would be watching out for us. I looked forward to
my hot water bottle in my bed at night. I cried when I had to leave. We
will have many, many wonderful memories of Kenya and its people. I wish
everyone could experience it as we did. Everything worked out great and
would love to go back again and see more in the future. Thank you again
for making it all happen!

October 2007, Amboseli Porini Camp, Mara Porini Camp
We just arrived back in the states after our safari. What a great time.
I will highly recommend Porini Camps to anyone I know going on safari.
The Porini Camps gave an outstanding safari experience. The tents were
nicely appointed and very comfortable. The hot water bottles in the Mara
were a great touch. Both camp directors (Oscar and Peter) were welcoming
and helpful. The game drives were very good and the vehicles were so much
better than the “mini-vans” we saw racing around. And, the dinners
far exceeded our expectations. It’s amazing what they were able to
cook up out in the bush. We also really enjoyed the sundowners and campfires
during the evenings. Although we have traveled all over the world in search
of adventure, I am not sure we ever traveled with this much style. Again,
your outfit does an outstanding job.
Again, thanks for a great safari. You and your staff should be proud
of the job you do and the product you offer.

September 2007, Mara Porini Camp
Having just arrived back in the UK, following our trip to Kenya, can
I thank you – and all at Gamewatchers – for the wonderful safari
we enjoyed last week at Mara Porini Camp. From the moment we arrived at
Nairobi airport and were met by Ray to the moment we were delivered to
the Hilton hotel last Wednesday for the conference I was attending, the
care that was take of us and the experience we had was second to none.
You must be justifiably proud of what you have created at the Porini
Camp – it is the perfect atmosphere. Having had a brief sight of
one of the lodges in the Mara following our balloon safari on Wednesday
morning, complete with its manicured lawns, carefully paved driveway,
gift shop etc. we gave thanks that we had chosen to stay at Porini. The
attention given to us by Peter and all his staff could not be faulted
and, although it is a bit of a cliché, it was “the trip of
a lifetime”. If we have one regret it was that, due to our personal
schedule, we could only spend three days on safari. Thanks again for everything.

September 2007( 3 nights Porini Amboseli, 5 nights Porini Lion)
Dear Gamewatchers,
We are writing to thank you for such a fantastic first trip to Kenya.
It was even better than we had imagined. Nina was very helpful and responsive
throughout the entire booking process, and to all of my inquiries as we
prepared for our trip. We found the people in Kenya, and especially the
Gamewatchers staff to be among the friendliest and most welcoming people
we have ever met. At Amboseli Porini, we had a fantastic time with Emmanuel,
Isa, Moses and Oscar. They made our trip in Kenya!. Emmanuel was such
a knowledgeable and eager driver and guide. Isa was a fantastic spotter,
and so eager to talk with us about everything from animal behavior to
his cultural traditions. Spending time with them was a highlight for us.
As far as logistics, Benson handled everything quite impressively, and
did it with a smile. As we broke the record for longest stay at Porini
Lion Camp (we could have stayed for another week!), we got to know the
staff quite well. We had a lot of fun with them, and John's personal experience
in the area was incredibly valuable. We had a great time on walks with
both Johnson and Duncan, and Philipp and William were so accommodating
and friendly. The food was fantastic at both camps. Its quite a feat making
such meals in the bush. We made some great friends on our trip, and would
recommend the Porini Camps to anyone we know who is considering a trip
to Kenya. Your company provided exactly what we were looking for when
we started researching for this trip. I feel so lucky that I randomly
came across your website during that process. We have memories (and plenty
of great photos!) to last a lifetime.

September: Amboseli Porini Camp and Mara Porini Camp
In Maasai Mara we followed a mother lion for a while, her quest unknown.
Then we stumbled across her destination - cubs sitting in the shade of
a bush, waiting for her to return. They frolicked and dozed and we watched
them a while until they suddenly became alert at a noise. Their mother
was calling them. They went running towards her, one of the cubs being
particularly playful and wrapping his front legs around her neck. It was
experiences like this that made us realise we were lucky to be in an open
jeep, Gamewatchers Safaris is one of the more pleasant safari experiences
- we saw many unfortunates driving around in what were little better than
minibuses.

Just to say thank you so much to you and your team for a truly unforgettable holiday! From the minute we stepped of the plane we felt welcomed and it was very reassuring to know that whenever we needed to be somewhere else your team was there guiding us onto the next place. The Managers at the camps were very gracious and the Guides patient and so knowledgeable. I must mention Johnson who did the majority of our driving brilliantly and with good humour .Not forgetting Benson who was always a star whatever time of day or night! The safari and the coast were just fantastic and I can't wait to do it all over again!

Some highlights of the trip.... leopard in a tree with it's prey in Serengeti / Seronera, lion in a tree in Serengeti, dead hippo being eaten by a crocodile, and many birds, and all other animals - we had our big five checked! So many thanks and we stay in touch for any further trips

Mobile Camping Safari, January 2007
I want to congratulate your team at Gamewatchers for the most memorable trip to Kenya at the end of last year.
As fairly experienced safari-goers we wanted to try something a bit different to staying in lodges. A camping trip seemed to be the next stage on in our Kenyan travels, and being that it was my husband's 50th birthday on 3 January 2007, this combined a celebration with a unique (for us) trip.
It had been over 20 years since we last set foot in a tent and I thought that I had gone past the stage of roughing-it. Despite grave misgivings on the first morning after spending the night under canvas we ended up having the most brilliant time.
I had been in communication with your office before the trip as I wanted to take some champagne to celebrate my husband's birthday.and wanted to find out how many people I should be allowing for. Henrietta was superb and organised a birthday cake for the day and kept me informed of numbers right up until the week before we left. For Fanwell to be able to bake this with the limited means available was incredible. The food that he prepared each day was better than most of the lodges that we have stayed at before.
Stanley, as our driver/guide, was amazing. Our highlight was the leopard with her cub in Nakuru -absolutely wonderful. His never-ending patience and politeness will always be remembered.
We fully intend to book another trip with you. It may have to be the camping again if you can guarantee us Stanley!
Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all concerned for a most wonderful week.

Peponi Hotel Lamu, December 2006
Service from Gamewatchers Safaris in handling my booking and payment before coming to Kenya was excellent, speedy and flexible. I stayed in Peponi Hotel, Lamu and had the best holiday experience I have ever had. It was a dream: service from management was impeccable and the food was outstanding without being overpriced. Everything ran smoothly and the hotel recommended in Nairobi on the return journey was fantastic and reasonably-priced.

Mara Porini Camp & Beach extension, December 2006
I had an amazing time the safari. Henrietta was really great, she answered all of my questions and more !! She gave me so much information and was really helpful on making the payment, which was quick and easy to organise.
I had prepaid transfers to the airport and back from Mombasa and we were picked up without any delay or hassle. Also the same once we arrived in the Masai Mara airstrip, the drivers were really nice and helpful.
The Safari Experience was great. The food was great, much nicer than our hotel in Mombasa !!! They were there at all times to help if we needed any, quick to bring meals out and drinks and very friendly and managed to answer all our questions about the area. The tents were kept very clean, we had no problems at all. The game driver and guide were so helpful and described in detail about the area and the animals, they managed to show us all of the animals apart from the Rhino but they tried there hardest to find one !!! Lunch on the game drives was lovely !! Mini pizzas and cheese and tomato sandwiches was just like home food !!!
The best experience is hard to pin point, it was all excellent... From seeing Mount Kilimanjaro from the airplane, seeing lions eating a live catch, to hearing the lions at night time and having a leopard chase a Giselle into our camp... and on the hunt for a rhino, seeing cheetahs... To eating lunch sat by a river in the Masai Mara after seeing a pride of lions and a leopard in a bush... they were all amazing !!! Even getting the staff to show us how to throw a spear !!! It was all great... Even the river by the camp being flooded and local people helping total strangers make a flight back was really good !!! It was the best ever... All of it was a great experience..
I'm not sure when I will return to Kenya but if I do I will definitely book with yourselves and I have already recommended your website to lots of people, and will continue to do so.

Safari & Nairobi Excursions, December 2006
Our safari trip to Samburu, Shaba, Nakuru and Masai Mara was one of the most fantastic trips I think we've ever experienced. Our brief stay in Nairobi the evening before our safari departure and our last evening before departing for home was also great fun and a superb end to a fantastic trip. We were really impressed with the Karen Blixen lunch, giraffe sanctuary and elephant orphanage. A must see trip for everyone!
Mick & Pat Jenner, UK
Samburu & Mara Safari, December 2006
The service prior to our arrival was very good, especially now being able to pay here in the UK. Airport transfers were A1. And the safari was as expected. We arranged it as a private and personal safari giveing maximum time in the reserves at the slowest possible pace, this we achieved. We thought our time at Larsens was exceptional, not only because of the very high standard of service we received. It is not often after three days in Samburu you can say you have seen more Leopards than Grevy's Zebra! although we did see more Zebra over the next two days. Pat and I enjoy just taking our time when game watching and observing the animals/birds (common or otherwise) habits, it gives us more pleasure than racing around ticking sightings, that is why we limited the reserves visited to two. Having a guide that was tuned in to our way of thinking helps, having found Livingstone last year and using him again for this trip was the best decision we made in our planning, as he instinctivly knew our requirements. It was also a bonus to have a guide that seem to get as much pleasure from game watching as we did.
The things that stand out in our memory of this Safari are: 1) Driving back Larsens late one afternoon and finding a Caracal walking along side of of the road and being able to film him and also the delight it gave Livingstone as it was only the second time he had seen on in daylight. 2) Sitting in our vehicle in the Maasai Mara having our lunch watching a cheetah and her three cubs for an hour and a half with no other safari vehicle in sight! We could go on and on about our best bits, it was all good.
Many thanks for all your help, two very satisfied customers.

Porini Lion Camp, Kichwa Tembo, Galdessa & Pinewood Village, November 2006
Service fom Gamewatchers Safaris was excellent. Prompt replies to any questions we had. And the airport transfers on arrival and departure were very good. On time every time. Us Europeans should learn from that! The personal care and attention while staying at the camps. It’s very nice to have more or less private game drives with very knowledgeable and experienced guides. I don’t see how it can get any better other than improvements to the roads, but that’s not up to Gamewatchers! We definitely plan to return to Kenya and when we do, we will certainly book with you again. I have never had such a perfectly organized trip before (nor that expensive I might add).
Marjorie Stevens, Canada
Mobile Camping Safari, November 2006
I would like to let you know that Gamewatchers Safari far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to friends and family. When booking with Gamewatchers Safaris, Nina displayed a great deal of knowledge about the product and services so that when I had questions about accommodation or the actual safari, she was able to provide sufficient information that helped me make my decisions. She also helped me to consider other aspects of travel to Kenya (e.g., transfers and domestic flights) and helped me pay for my travel services in a manner that was easiest for me. This resulted in me feeling well taken care of before I arrived in Nairobi.
While I have lived across Canada, gone diving with sharks in Tahiti, camped under the Southern Cross on Fraser Island, Australia, explored the Foro Romano, cruised up the Rhine River and climbed the highest pyramid in the Yucatan, Mexico, my safari experience was one of the most memorable of my life. I will talk about the dash across the countryside with the cheetah as she ran after the Thompson Gazelle for many more years! Such an adventure was a direct result of the calibre of Gamewatchers Safari's driver, Stanley, or as we started calling him, "Stan the Man". In addition, the care and comfort that Fannuel showed in establishing each camp, setting up his kitchen and making sure we were comfortable was a perfect cap to our wonderful days with Stanley! Fannuel even baked a birthday cake for one of the other participants!

Mobile Camping Safari, November 2006
I and my daughter went on a camping safari with your company, our driver-guide was Stanley, and our cook was Fanuel. I just wish to say that those two gentlemen, were magnificent, Stanley is a first class driver, he has intimate knowledge of animals and wildlife, and made our six days the most memorable I have had in East Africa.
As for the food served up by Fanuel, the man is a genius, I would never have believed that someone could cook a superb three course meal by torchlight in the pouring rain as he had to on our first evening.
I wish you to pass on the thanks of myself and my daughter to Stanley and Fanuel. Our holiday was richer for meeting them.

Amboseli Porini & Mara Porini October 2006
I will confess that it was quite probably the best holiday I have ever
had… in 2 excellent tented lodge camps (Porini camps) in Amboseli
and Masaai Mara, in conservancies just outside the national parks.
Food, logistics, vehicles, guides etc were all first class - extreme
comfort without feeling we were riding roughshod over local communities
and their land. When comparing with some of the lodges inside the park,
with electric fences, swimming pools, orchestrated feeding of game, glass
windows, air conditioning and irrigated ornamental lawns, we were very
glad to be in the hands of the Masaai. Outside the park, you get to
do night drives, bush walks and simply be part of the nature, rather than
an overpampered observer.
All travel has an impact, but I can't think of a better model than
running camps in conservancies, as Porini do, which engages the local
community, provides jobs and income, and extends the protected area for
game beyond the National Park boundaries. Many parks are under pressure,
and Mara is no exception, so these additional conservation areas provide
a much needed buffer and complement the excellent work of the park service.
Only so much land can ever be "protected", so areas where local
tribes are not excluded, but fully integrated in conservation activities,
must be encouraged - which is easy to do, as they provide such an excellent
holiday.

Amboseli Porini Camp, Mara Porini Camp, Peponi Hotel, Lamu September 2006
I booked very late but your team in Kenya were very quick and efficient in calling me back with several suggestions and managed to book the 2.5 week trip exactly how I requested it. You also organised our onward travel and stay at Peponi's in Lamu and managed to get us an upgrade to superior room which was showing as not available on the Peponi's website.
The safari experience was absolutely amazing. The staff are the best I have ever come across, they were attentive but not in your face, fun but not offensive, there was nothing they couldn't do for you. The guides were exceptional and new everything we asked and more, they really made the trip come alive with lots of interesting facts, but it also felt like they were really enjoying themselves too. The game drives were perfect and we saw everything except rhino (maybe next time!). I also could not fault the food which was excellent and the type of food I would expect from a proper restaurant. The accommodation was also amazing and was bigger than most people’s houses in the UK! The addition of hot showers really did make the difference and put a big smile on my girlfriends face!
Seeing a leopard eating a gazelle up a tree - and this was 5 minutes after landing on the way from the airport to the camp was a highlight! But overall I would say the staff at the camp stood out as they really made the whole experience so comfortable, fun, interesting and enjoyable. My girlfriend was also a little worried about camping out in the middle of a game reserve but your staff helped her feel safe.
This has been the best organised, most fun and one of the best holidays I have ever had. Thank you to all the staff who helped make it so enjoyable.

Mara Porini Camp, September 2006
The booking process was simple, and Maurice was exceptionally helpful in providing all the information that we needed. Your website gives a very good representation of what to expect when you arrive. We cannot fault the camp at all. Everything was wonderful. The food was amazing, the staff so polite. The tents were comfortable and the whole atmosphere made you feel very welcome. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and also very entertaining with his numerous stories and anecdotes. All of the game drives were very enjoyable, in particular the night drive which again was a fantastic experience. The vehicles were always clean, comfortable and skillfully driven. We were very pleased to be in a Land Rover type vehicle rather than the buses which we saw large numbers of. Being able to stand up out of the top of the vehicle was great fun, and enabled members of our party to become "spotters" for the day.
There are no areas which we could suggest improvement of, as every part of the safari exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend the camp to others, and would love to return one day, hopefully in the near future. We would like to thank everyone at the camp very much for a really amazing experience which we will never forget.

Maasai & Lamu Island Safari, September 2006
We really enjoyed ourselves in Amboseli. It was a great experience. We will definitely recommend Gamewatchers Safaris and Kenya in general to our friends. It was too bad that we didn't get a chance to go for a Balloon Safari in Mara.We will save that for our next trip!
Benson, Nina, Emanuel, Wilson, Simon, David were all great. Nina was great at making on the necessary arrangements and very attentive to my requests. The whole process of booking the trip was smooth. Drivers were good and professional. We loved Mara too and Robert and Simon were great. Our greatest memories includes the first day when we arrived in Amboseli and seeing all the animals in the wild was unreal. Visiting a Maasai Village and seeing the warriors was a different experience as well. We loved the sunset, the game drive at night and seeing the Cheetah. Also the next day and drive to the reserve was beautiful. I felt that we were in a documentary. It was very beautiful.
We also enjoyed our stay at the Kipungani. It was a great way to unwind after safari and before coming back to our hectic lives! It was our first time in Africa. We can't wait to come back! Thanks again for a trip of a life time.

Amboseli Porini Camp, September 2006
Dear Jake, I’m writing to thank all camp staff and management for my stay at Amboseli Porini. I loved my stay there. It is one of the things which define how I think about Kenyans: generous; friendly; engaging; full of life and force. The conservancy project; the connections with the Maasai local communities and the guides were worth every penny and more. I will highly recommend it to friends and colleagues. Asante sana, Mark Harrison.

Safari in Tanzania and beach holiday in Kenya
On behalf of my wife, her niece, my god-daughter and myself, I would like to express our warmest thanks for organising a wonderful 13 day holiday to Tanzania and Kenya. My wife and I have been on two holidays to Kenya before but without doubt this was the best of all. The safari was brilliant, we had a great driver, we saw all the animals we wanted to see, and the children were overwhelmed with it all. The beach holiday in Kenya was everything we and the children could have wished for. The Voyager Beach Resort could not have made us more welcome. There was so much for the children to do and it was so safe we were happy to let them go off on their own. The rooms were lovely (they even gave us sea view rooms without additional charge) the food was exceptional and the entertainment was very good.
I would not hesitate to recommend Gamewatchers Safaris to anyone who wanted a fantastic holiday in Kenya or Tanzania and I would certainly recommend you for all the help and assistance you gave in planning and organising our holiday.

Mara Porini Camp, August 2006
We had a wonderful time here! This has truly been the highlight of our trip to Kenya. The camp was so comfortable and the people so welcoming. The sundowners, time by the camp fire and the dinners were so much fun – not to mention the fantastic game drives! We didn’t expect to see all the animals we hoped for – but we did! Thanks to everyone. We plan to recommend this place to our friends and family – and may even be back ourselves!

Mara Porini Camp, August 2006
We had a fabulous stay at Mara Porini Camp and really couldn’t have asked for more. The accommodation, hospitality, food and company were outstanding. All of the staff without exception have been super friendly and very patient with our many questions. The guide and tracker’s knowledge was superb and we have both learnt a lot about flora, fauna and the Maasai culture. This was an awesome start to our honeymoon and we very much hope to return.

Kenya Family Safari, August 2006
We have had an amazing holiday in Kenya on the family safari. The organization was outstanding and we did appreciate the e-mail from Nina just before we travelled. The wildlife and scenery were stunning-we saw
leopards (3 times), lions, zebras, cheetahs, elephants, crocodiles, giraffes
and so the list goes on, at such close quarters.
There have been comments about the resulting photos-are we sure that we didn't download them from the National Geographic web-site!! The accommodation was amazing and we were so well looked after at both the Samburu and Mara Intrepids-the food was of a high quality and the children really enjoyed having their own warrior to teach them how to make beaded jewellery, bows and arrows and tracking a leopard's footprints and making plaster-casts of them.
Our day in Nairobi was full and very interesting too. The pick ups and drop offs went like a dream-thank you to Benson in Nairobi. It was truly a holiday of a life-time-but one we would love to repeat.

Porini Lion Camp, August 2006
We had a really good time on the safari & it exceeded our expectations. We booked with Nina after seeing your website on-line. One of the reasons that booked with Gamewatchers was that Nina gave a clear and prompt reply, specifying exactly what we would get and it was all inclusive i.e. including park entrance fees. Also it appealed to us that it was a small camp & so we had a much more personal experience.
The vehicle was very comfortable and made the safari a lot more enjoyable. The accommodation, food and game drives were excellent & I have only good things to say about them. We were very happy with the friendliness of your staff. It was my wife's birthday while we were there & Nina organised for the chef to make a cake. What was really enjoyable was that the cake was delivered by the Maasai staff who performed a dance for her. This was a really special event for us.
The best part of the experience was the personal nature of the stay.
We were lucky to "stumble" across your website by accident while I was searching for a suitable place to go to. We probably won't return to Kenya as this was a once in a lifetime experience, but I would definitely recommend Gamewatchers to others. (My parents will probably come sometime next year).

Big Cat Safari, August 2006
We had a fantastic holiday in Kenya. The safari experience was excellent - everything was as advertised. The camps at Amboseli, Selenkay were delightful and all the staff were very helpful. Everywhere we stayed the food was good. The guides and drivers were all very knowledgeable and friendly and contributed in no small part to our enjoyment of the holiday. Although all the safaris were enjoyable I think that the night drives were particularly special - it was a privilege to be able to see many of the smaller and less common animals - we loved seeing the honey badger and were entranced by the jumping hares at Selenkay!
This is the first time we have traveled with you and we have no hesitation in recommending you to any family or friends who might be considering traveling to Kenya. I fear it may be some time before we return to Kenya but if we do you would definitely be top of the list when considering who to travel with.
In summary we had a great holiday - I would like to thank all your staff who tried so hard to ensure we had a good time - nothing was ever too much trouble and it was their input that made such a difference.

Big Cat Safari, August 2006
The trip was more than we ever could have hoped for! Your vehicle was comfortable and in such good condition. Kamel was an incredible driver (I don't know how he negotiated those roads and NEVER got a puncture or a breakdown) and moreover a fabulous guide. I learned more on the way from the airport to Gamewatchers office on our first day than I've learned in a long time. Thank you for assigning him to us.
The Malewa River Lodge was beautiful...would have liked to stay there a little longer and had a chance to do more walks. I was really pleased with Nakuru...very much enjoyed our game drives there. We saw lions climbing in trees! A black rhino! Tons of flamingos...buffalo...white rhinos...etc. etc. I very much enjoyed my time there.
In the Mara we saw EVERYTHING. Kamel really gave us his time and his all. We also saw a cheetah chase and kill a gazelle and then call its cubs to eat. We saw lions with a wildebeest kill, we spotted a leopard without any other vehicles around. We really saw everything we wanted to.
I will HIGHLY recommend Gamewatchers. I'm so impressed that you were able to get us accommodations at such late notice. I'm also thrilled with the quality of the service you provided. I always felt that we were in better hands than most on safari. And I have to say, I can't believe that people want to travel around the Mara in minibuses! Our vehicle was just so great! Again thank you for everything. If we return to Kenya we will certainly contact you.

Maasai Safari, August 2006
I have nothing but praise to give! I made my booking at short notice via email after having seen you mentioned on a responsible holiday website. Nina Michaelides handled my booking and was excellent. She tailored the arrangements to my requirements and responded to all my requests promptly and efficiently.
The safari experience was wonderful. I felt that all the staff at both camps I stayed at really were trying to make the safari experience good. The accommodation was excellent, the most luxurious camping I have ever done! The use of four wheel drive vehicles was vastly superior to the vans I saw being used by other companies and I really enjoyed being in such small groups. The guides again were very knowledgeable and seemed keen to make the experience as good as possible.
Its difficult to single out a particular experience as the best - but I would like to mention Robert the head guide at Amboseli who I thought was very good and who, at my request took me to the biggest termite mound he could find so that I could get a photo of myself in front of it! Also I really enjoyed going for walks on both the conservancies, particularly at Mara where the Maasai gave a lot of information about all the plants. Also I enjoyed the night game drives just being able to see all the stars. Also the sundowners were wonderful.
Before going on safari I did wonder what it would be like being on my own. I have to say that you made sure that the fact I was holidaying on my own was not a problem and I was looked after superbly.
I would love to return to Kenya but have no plans in the foreseeable future. If I do return I would certainly use you again (I think you have probably spoiled me for other places to stay) and will certainly recommend you to friends. One of the main reasons I booked with you was that I feel you practice responsible tourism that actually benefits the local communities. I thought the conservancies were beautiful, so peaceful. Another highlight was sitting in the jeep drinking a sundowner watching lions on the conservancy at Mara - and no hordes of white vans!
Best wishes and please pass on all my thanks to everyone in Gamewatchers who contributed to making my safari a very special experience.

Mobile Camping Safari & Voyager Resort, July 2006
The service from yourselves was very good, prompt replies to enquiries and you didn't get too exasperated when were asking basic question about things that could be found on the web site! All the staff we came into contact with were very helpful and willing to try and change / modify things within the itinerary to suit our personal preference whenever possible.
The safari lived up to our expectations. The food was excellent I can only complement the staff in providing such good fare with limited facilities. The camp sites were good my personal favorite being the first in Selenkay. The parks and game drives were great - the night drive in particular added a new dimension. As before the staff were always knowledgeable and helpful and certainly enhanced our holiday. I would happily recommend Gamewatchers to colleagues and friends.

Amboseli Porini Camp, July 2006
We recently stayed at the Porini camp in Selenkay and we wanted very much to pass on our grateful thanks to Peter and his team for making our first visit to Africa such a wonderful experience. The game viewing far exceeded our expectations, as did the visit to the Masai village. The camp was everything we hoped it would be and Peter made an excellent host.
The image of the sun setting over the bush seen from our sundowner spot will always remain with us and we are happy to recommend the camp to anyone wanting a true safari experience.

Big Cat Safari, July 2006
Just wanted to say a quick thanks for all your help - we have had a really great holiday. The first week was wonderful. We saw all the animals we wanted to see. The Lodge was lovely, and we went riding there which was really fun. Camping was a fantastic experience. A big thanks to Evans who couldn't do enough for us! The kids absolutely loved the two days there because they were just showered with attention! Peter and his team were also great at the last camp, and we enjoyed the trip to the Maasai village.
Mombasa was great. The kids did their PADI open water diver course and we went on three dives all together as a family - so many fish and we saw two turtles too. It’s great to have something new we can all enjoy. The hotel staff were great and Mombassa was really interesting.
All in all a lovely holiday! Its just a shame it had to end and we are back home. Thanks for all your help in putting it together for us.

What can I say... my Fiancé and I had an amazing time in Kenya and your company played a huge role in it. The service you provided was excellent. We found you on-line and used you great website to get the information I used to pick your company.
Maurice had excellent follow-up with us and kept us completely informed throughout the process. We were picked up at 3am by Johnson, and he set the standard for your company. He was very professional and helpful. He also took us to our transfer after our safari and was just as wonderful.
The safari itself was the highlight of our 2 month trip! Stanly was the most outstanding guide we could have ever asked for. Very friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. He has an eye for the animals. We missed the leopards but saw the other big four. The food we were served was also better than we get at some restaurants here in America. It was excellent! It was definitely one of the highlights; but Stanly and the animals were the best part. The people of Kenya were the best we met in Africa, and we will no doubt return to your country some day,
and I will absolutely recommend Gamewatchers to my family and friends.

Mara Porini Camp, June 2006
As we reflect on the trip, our thoughts always go back to Mara Porini. We so loved the location, the warmth of the camp staff, the friendliness and the beauty of the conservancy. Evans and Gordon make a wonderful team and bring a touch of class and savoir-faire to the bush camp experience. The troupe of Masai warriors under Tipa’s artistic direction is unquestionably the best! Evans presented me with a specially baked cake to commemorate Canada’s Aboriginal Day. The kind and thoughtful gesture caught me totally by surprise and touched the bottom of my heart. Then the Masai gave us a spectacular show – how could I not cry !!
You have a special crew at Mara Porini – informal, attentive and their presence is constantly felt throughout the day – that’s what makes it different from other camps. You have a winning formula (for us anyways ). The abundance of wildlife in the conservancy is also quite remarkable – we feel the presence and activity of animals throughout the day and night – their proximity is exhilarating.

Amboseli Porini Camp, May 2006
Thanks again for everything. Our safari was so wonderful. It was far beyond anything that we ever could have expected. It was very convenient to have it paid for before we arrived. I liked the fact that we didn't have to worry about that when we were going out on Safari. We were given all the information that we needed, so transferring the money was really easy!
The camp was amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Jonathan was a great guide. He showed us a lot of neat animals. I can't believe how many things there were to see. The food was the best we had on our entire trip! I really appreciated the way that they accommodated my allergies. We both loved the fact that we never felt any pressure to hurry when we were watching animals or taking pictures. Jonathon has amazing patients, considering the number of questions we kept asking him!
I know this is cliché, but I loved all of it. Walking to the village and meeting everyone was definitely a highlight. I just couldn't believe I was there. I don't think I will ever forget hearing the women singing. I also thought the night drives were really fun. I can't believe all the things that they found for us in the dark.
We found out about the company through a CNN article that a co-worker forwarded me dated April 19, 2006. When I saw the article, I emailed Mohanjeet to find out more. The website was very user-friendly. I was so glad that I had been referred to the packing list. It came in quite handy. In fact, I had forgotten all about binoculars until I saw it there. Thanks for everything!

Mara Porini Camp, May 2006
I am writing to thank you and all of the people at Gamewatchers for your conscientious and meticulous attention to our travel needs in Kenya. Our advance booking and payment was easy and you were consistently available to address our every concern. The airport transfers were prompt, courteous and efficient and our driver went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that I would make my unanticipated change in connecting flights to Tanzania without a problem.
Our time at the Porini Camp in the Maasai Mara was simply magical. The accommodations were wonderful, comfortable, albeit luxurious and yet remained in keeping with the wildness of the surrounding land. We awakened each morning to a concert of early morning birds welcoming the progression of dawn. Each day was unique and well planned, filled with magnificent wildlife and culminating in some of the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen. Evans was an attentive and gracious host, offering us every consideration and accommodating our every wish to personalize our time together and make the most of this memorable experience. Of particular note were our guide Omundi and our Maasai tracker Tipa. What a fantastic team they are! They work together seamlessly and have an abundance of knowledge, information and heartfelt enthusiasm for the Mara and all who dwell there. Their warmth, their humor, their depth of spirit, and their genuine interest in our needs will remain with us for many years to come. What a rich and extraordinary cultural exchange, and very much a part of why we selected Porini as our safari experience.
We reveled as well in our opportunity to take an extended bush hike with Omundi, Tipa and another Maasai tracker, marveling at the richness of the land as we wandered amidst wildebeest, gazelle, zebras, topis, eland and even a giant tortoise!
I will definitely contact you whenever we return to Kenya and will be delighted to recommend Gamewatchers to others, not only to arrange a safari but indeed to host all of one's travels in Kenya. Our follow-up trip to Lake Navaisha after returning from the Mara was equally spectacular, with yet another wonderful and accommodating driver. You truly have the gift of hiring personnel who are knowledgeable, kind, helpful, fun, resourceful, flexible and totally trustworthy. I can think of no better way to experience Kenya and the Maasai Mara. Many thanks for all that you did to make our journey such a rich and memorable experience.

Porini Camps, May 2006
The Safaris were amazing, the accommodation was fantastic. We liked the fact that we had been to two very different tented camps and two very different game parks. The staff was amazing at both camps and made us feel really welcome. I have been on quite a few safaris before and this without a doubt was the best safari trip I have ever been on. We also loved the light aircraft transfers - So much better than going by road.
Best part of the Safari was seeing lions on the night drive we did at Porini Mara. Porini was great, really friendly, brilliant guides and staff. I can't speak highly enough about them and the camp. Our thanks go to Evans, Gordon, Tippa, Moses and all the staff at Porini that made our stay so memorable.
Nina was very helpful during the booking and payment stage before we came to Kenya. It was also appreciated that she got in contact when we had arrived to let us know that everything was ready for our safari.

Porini Camps & Gamewatchers Safaris, May 2006
John and I would like to offer our most sincere thank you for the most fabulous trip of our lives. I was sure Kenya was going to be amazing, as it was the one place I knew I had to visit before my life was complete. Everything about it has far exceeded my expectations; the friendly people, wildlife, terrain, accommodations, food, culture, absolutely everything!
From the moment I first arrived at the first of the two Porini camps, Porini Camp Selenkay I knew I had to do everything I could to tell everyone I could about this magical place.
I have to say the highlight of our safari was the professionalism and friendliness of your staff throughout our journey. They are the ones who make a Gamewatchers safari far exceed anyone’s expectations. The Maasai warriors at both of the camps were so very attentive and friendly, they really added to the experience. Last but not least, what a great job the camp managers Peter and Evans do bringing it all together so perfectly.
I am a true believer in the vision and concept you have adopted with the Porini camps. I certainly wish everyone would follow your example to protect and preserve the precious land, wildlife and culture of Kenya. I was pleased to hear you are continuing to grow and I will certainly do all I can to spread the word about the fabulous safari opportunities you offer. May you have all the success in the world!
Asante Sana to everyone for the wonderful life changing experience and memories we will keep with us forever!

Porini Camps, Tortilis Camp March 2006
First off I would like to say I was thoroughly impressed by my entire experience with Gamewatchers, Porini camps and Tortilis Camp. I was dealing with Nina, and I found her to be super helpful and knowledgeable. Her recommendations were invaluable. The safari was fantastic, the food was fantastic, the staff were great, and the lodging was way better than I imagined.

Ngong House and Mara Porini Camp, March 2006
We had a lovely time at Ngong House and a fabulous stay at Mara Porini. The time just disappeared so quickly and we both wish we could've spent more time with Evans, David, James and the rest of the team at Mara Porini. The camp is in a wonderful area, we just felt so at home there. Just outside camp we came across a huge herd of giraffe and a pride of lions consisting of 21 at the last count. We especially enjoyed our balloon safari so it was well worth getting up at 4am for. We also visited a local Maasai village which was quite an experience as well and should be recommended to all clients - it was quite an eye opener.
We're definitely hooked and thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in the tents and taking in all the sights and sounds.

It was a trip of a life time!!! I hope to have the opportunity to return and if so I will contact Gamewatchers for my travels. My only disappointment was the Lodge in Amboseli. After having experienced "tent life" I was hooked! Thank you and the staff for making my trip so incredible!

Gamewatchers Safaris - 'Best of Kenya Safari'
Although overdue, I wanted to drop you a quick line regarding our recent safari booked through Gamewatchers. On behalf of all of our group, thank you for your superb service! From the moment that we cleared the Nairobi airport until we arrived back there for our departure home, we were treated exceptionally well. All the staff that we encountered were pleasant, helpful and conducted themselves extremely professionally.
We really appreciate all the last minute arrangements that you made to accommodate us due to the heavy rainfall. Every camp we were at was fantastic..we were warmly welcomed and our stay at all of them was truly enjoyable. I really do believe that we did see "The Best of Kenya", with all of the areas we visited being truly unique. Certainly a big factor in our trip being so fantastic were the excellent guides we had!!! I still marvel at all the sights that we were able to take in, including the lion kill that we witnessed at Amboseli. We have some phenomenal pictures to add to our warm memories of the people we met and of our African Safari!
Again, thank you for your excellent service! In addition to our colleagues that are coming to see you in June, we will most certainly be recommending Gamewatchers to all future Africa bound travelers!! My memories of Kenya will be long lasting as well as very fond!

Gamewatchers Safaris
Gamewatchers did an excellent job of handling the booking and answering any questions from our group. It was also nice to have everything paid for before leaving home, knowing that there would not be any "extra" or "hidden" charges after arriving.
Benson did an excellent job. He met us at the airport and took very good care of us and was a complete business gentleman. The transfers to and from each camp was very nice and we enjoyed seeing Kenya from the air. We were always met at our destination on time. The tents were very nice, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The food was very good at all three camps. All of the game drives were super. The drivers were very knowledgeable, professional and helpful.
It is hard to pick just one thing, but personally, it was awesome to hear the lions roar at night from our tent.
I must say that Gamewatchers is a first class company. It's hard to improve on that. I had not used Gamewatchers before and found out about you from searching the Internet. I would like to return to Kenya again within the next couple of years and I will surely use Gamewatchers if I do. I have already recommended you to friends.

Guide and cook were great. Informative and great company. They were the trip. I selected your safari based on the trip represented on-line, including four-wheel drive vehicles. One or two of your competitors choose to use STREET VEHICLES (about ten of them without four-wheel drive) for safari and remained stuck most of the time. I wanted a week or so in the bush and three or four game parks. Your all inclusive four-wheel camping tour of three game parks was the perfect match.

I feel compelled to write to say how impressed we were with the hospitality we received while staying at Mara Porini. Everyone was so cheerful, polite and helpful during our stay. The guides and spotters were excellent, we saw lots of different species of animals and birds. We saw three of the big five within 1 hour! Thanks to James, Andy, Marima and Tipa for that.

We were pleased with all our accommodations. Nina handled our bookings and payment efficiently. We appreciated the trips she set up to the Giraffe Center, Elephant Orphanage and Karen Blixen Museum.
Our drivers were lovely to be with, helpful and courteous.
We loved Porini Camp, the Selenkay Conservancy, the visit to the Masasai Village and Amboseli. The meals were good. We could have stayed another day at Porini and chilled out. The tents were awesome! We love to camp out on our visits to National Parks in the USA so we were in the lap of luxury with the large space and en-suite bathroom. We found the shower particularly delicious. Peter was a gracious host and the Maasai men that served us were courteous and kind. We felt privileged to be able to get a glimpse of an ancient way of life and meet some of the people of the village. Dixon, our guide, and I had very interesting discussions of the cultural differences between the Maasai way of life and the western ways.
The best parts of the experience for me was the Giraffe Center, (I got a giraffe kiss!), Elephant orphanage, Porini Camp, and the Maasai Village.
This is our first time traveling with you and God willing we will be able to visit Kenya again.
We have spoken with many friends and family, shown them our photos and told our stories and recommended they take a trip to Kenya. We would definitely use your services again.

What we enjoyed most was Porini!!! Congratulations on a great concept, design and execution. You managed to create a beautiful living space in the wilderness that is almost invisible while also luxuriously comfortable. Evans puts his heart and soul into managing the place and his Maasai warriors provided for our every need. Your cook is masterful and Andy did his best to show us as much of the surrounding area as possible. Everybody in our group agreed that Porini was the high point of the trip.

A wonderful safari. We had the best time camping and visiting the various game parks, there are numerous stories retold whenever the family gets together again. We would love to visit Africa again someday to experience the other games parks of Kenya and Tanzania. A great deal of the scenery reminded us of the northwest of Western Australia, with the exception of course of animals that eat you! Thank you for a great safari and please say hello to our driver-guides Dedan and Stanley.

Pat and I are both very much into conservation which is why the Porini project appeals to us. For all the local Maasai in the conservancy area to benefit in such a direct and immediate way is important not only for wildlife but also for the continuation of tourism in the region, a delicate balance that you are going along way to help address.

Mara Porini Camp
Our stay at Porini Camp was one of the highlights of our recent Kenya vacation and we want to thank everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. It takes more than just luxurious surroundings to make a place special; it ultimately comes down to the quality of those working in the place, from cooks, to drivers, guides, housekeeping staff, waiters and managers, all those that we come into contact with. Our experience at Porini Camp in this regard was second to none.
Our special thanks to Evans for being such a gracious, kind and considerate host and to David for enthusiastically sharing his vast knowledge of Kenya's flora and fauna with us - especially the beautiful birds! We hope to meet up with you again should we be fortunate enough to make it to Kenya a 7th time!

Amboseli Porini Camp, Kichwa Tembo, Mfangano Island
Our safari was the best African holiday that we have had, due in no small measure to the time and effort put in by your staff. Everyone we met was so incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel that literally nothing was too much trouble. I don't think there was one occasion when a question or request was met with anything but full consideration and a satisfactory response. The expertise of all the members of your organisation is very impressive.
We loved Porini Amboseli, the opportunity to walk through the bush is a real privilege and a memory to treasure. Bearing in mind the remoteness of the camp the food, service and accommodation were fantastic.
The flight to Mara and our stay at Kichwa Tembo was memorable but in retrospect another night would have been better. Flying enabled us to see so much of the country and the Safari Link service was very efficient. Kichwa
Tembo is a good camp and the service was excellent in every respect.
Mfangano was delightful and a perfect place to relax and unwind. Murray and his staff looked after us very well and it was so pleasant to be with so many smiling people.

This is just to thank you again for a wonderful trip. Myself and my parents are now safely back in the UK where it is incredibly cold and I am longing to be back in Kenya again! We thought the safari was particularly good and that your staff were wonderfully hospitable. We also thought it was great that the camp was so small and made you feel extremely 'special' guests. I shall highly recommend it to my friends!

We found you by way of a link on the official destination website of the Kenya Tourist Board - your presentation was clear, your orientation toward the people of Kenya clear and your prices and services clear. We had no idea about Kenya, nor the advisability of making arrangements there over the internet. Everything was very professional and that was reassuring.
Of course, once we arrived in Kenya the quality of your Safari arrangements truly shown. We have already passed on your name to several other friends considering travel in Kenya. When we return to Kenya I know it will be Gamewatchers that will take care of all the arrangements and details for another flawless trip.
Special thanks go to Peter and Jackson at Porini Camp, John and James at Kilaguni, William at Mara Base Camp and Paul (Fauz) at Kipungani.

Porini Camp
We would like to thank you for a wonderful time in Kenya. We had such a great time on safari. Porini Camp was an amazing start with animals free to roam through the camp. One evening while the others were out on a night drive I sat chatting to Peter by the fire when a young Giraffe wandered in and browsed on a tree just a few yards away. On returning to our tent there were about a dozen Impala grazing just outside. The staff and guides at the camp were friendly and knowledgeable which made our stay memorable. Patrick was an excellent tracker and our night drive with him was particularly memorable.
We enjoyed our time with John Mwangi, he was so cheerful and knowledgeable and very persistent in searching out the animals especially the Leopard in Nakuru Park. This was the last of "the Big Five" on our list and we had a marvellous view of it resting in the tree. All in all it was a marvellous holiday and one we will always remember. Thank you once more for all your help organising the smooth running of our trip and we hope to come to Kenya again before too long.

Porini Mara - In one word GREAT We loved the personal service and it was very special being the only guests in a new camp. David, Evans and the rest of the staff did everything to make sure that we had everything we wanted both in the camp and on the game drives. It was an experience that we and our boys will look back on with pleasure for a long time.
Our holiday in Kenya was great and we were very pleased with the service from Gamewatchers and would certainly book with you again and recommend you to others. We started arranging our trip with another agency which we had used before but they did not seem to understand our wishes and everything took so long that we scanned the web for an alternative. That was Gamewatchers. From the first contact you (Maurice Nzwi) responded quickly and effectively -all our question were answered and our wishes complied with.

This years trip was great. We saw caracal and aardvark at Porini, which was as good as ever - our favourite tented camp. We walked close to the rhinos at Malewa - wonderful - and had a good sighting of Bella the leopard at Kicheche. So its over for another year, but we can look at the photographs through our cold winter. Once again thank you Maurice and all at Gamewatchers for the care and effort you put in to make our holiday so special, we are very grateful.

Our trip to Kenya was all I had hoped for and more. I would love to return to Kenya and would certainly use Gamewatchers Safari again and recommend you to others.
The three parks we went to were all different and well selected and the accommodation was just what we wanted, but probably better that we had thought. Everybody we met was welcoming and courteous, at Porini, Kigio and Kicheche camps. The animals were quite amazing but what made the trip for us was the Gamewatchers staff.
Porini camp comes top of the list by far - we just loved it there. I thought the camp was beautifully set up, not too many people thus retained an intimacy to the camp where we felt very much part of the Porini family. David was a fantastic host, driver and guide and we did appreciate him sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge of the area so freely with us. A bonus for me was that both David and Nicholas shared my interest in birds and could tell me the names of all the birds we saw. We loved the time we spent with Jackson, spot lighting at night and walking around the camp sharing his knowledge of the trees and animal tracks and learning something of his culture and traditions. Not to mention all the people we did not meet who cooked for us, guided us to our tents at night and bought us hot water in the morning.
Benson, again always courteous and managed our transfers with efficiency and minimum of fuss.

We found our guides very knowledgeable and friendly. As for our accommodation, we loved Porini and if we ever do return to Kenya that is the one place we would re-visit.
So we had a fantastic time. Everything went very smoothly really. We all felt that we received excellent service from yourself and the Gamewatchers staff, and that you were most patient with our frequent requests and changes of plan. I also felt that we had good value for money.
Thank you again for all your hard work on our behalf.

Gamewatchers Safaris
We have just completed our sixth visit to Kenya with Gamewatchers Safaris! Every one has been filled with the most amazing, wonderful experiences and, each time, we've come home planning our next visit.
Kenya is a majestic country, all the people we have met have shown a very gentle nature and made us feel we are more like guests than tourists - and it is difficult to describe what it is like to be on game drives amongst the incredible wildlife.
We are both retired ladies of 'advanced' years and have never felt unsafe in Kenya! No doubt this is due to Gamewatchers, their immaculate planning, careful choice of accommodation and transport, and the professional care shown by their staff. We owe them a massive debt of gratitude.
The UK Foreign Office suggests you should seek a 'reputable' company when travelling to Kenya. You can do no better than choose Gamewatchers.

First, I cannot say enough about how helpful & patient David Williams was with all my questions and all the arrangements being relatively last minute, David worked hard to find alternative accommodation due to dwindling supply during the high season.
The air transfers went well. The safari camps and game drives were awesome. Never having seen big game in the wild before, it was a very powerful experience. We are vegan, and all 3 camps accommodated this with no problem.
We would definitely use your services again if we ever came again to go on safari, and would recommend you all highly to anyone else.
Thank you very much for all your help and for an unforgettable vacation.

We had an absolutely fantastic time. From start to finish your handling of our holiday arrangements was impeccable. There really was nothing that went wrong which in this day and age is quite an achievement! The combination of Porini, Larsens and Mara Intrepids did exactly what it says on the label and gave us a wonderful experience of 3 of the main Safari Parks in Kenya. It would be wrong to try to nominate a favourite because each area and the accommodation offered something different which we all enjoyed enormously.
We were very taken with the 'ECO' concept at Porini and we enjoyed the inclusive nature of the arrangements. Peter and our guide Isaac looked after us very well indeed as well as the other staff. We did like the openness of the camp without a fence albeit a little daunting at first. As our very first experience of a safari camp we will always treasure it. Isaac in particular was very helpful in educating us about the wildlife and habitat. We saw more than we could have hoped for, although the Rhinos proved to be elusive. We'll just need to return! We found your website informative with lots of useful tips. We certainly would have no hesitation in recommending you to others.
In summary, the whole family had a great time. Thank you for helping to make it possible and good luck with Porini Mara.

We had a really fantastic time in both Kenya and Tanzania. The holiday exceeded our expectations and was brilliant in so many ways. From being collected at the airport to being returned to the airport - EVERY person was lovely, helpful, welcoming and very friendly. We had excellent game drives, seeing the Big 5, plus lots, lots more. Many thanks again to all your staff who made our time in Africa a truly memorable one.

Well we are back safe and sound and once again into our usual routines. Sorry we missed you before we left Kenya but I trust Benson relayed our thanks back to you. We had such a great time, everything went like clockwork some flights were even a couple of minutes early! The itinerary was spot on and we saw everything and did everything we wanted to. It really was a magical experience and I don't think we shall take it all in until we have sat back and compiled our photo album.
I could go on for hours but i guess you've heard it all before.. Suffice it to say that I have no hesitation in recommending your services to our friends and family. I am not sure how we shall follow this holiday so please let me know if you have any ideas?!! Once again our thanks to all the Gamewatchers Team.

First of all, I want to say Asante sana a hundred times over for making this trip so very special for us. The attention you and your staff gave made us feel like royalty. The camps were great, especially Kicheche. We loved the artistry of the cottages at Malewa. And the stories Christine told us about the construction of the Lodge and transplanting the giraffes. Carol and I were even able to run with a real Kenyan runner! But the number one prize goes to the animals, abundant everywhere we went. This was my first visit to Kenya and I'm utterly enchanted. The wildlife, scenery, people, culture - the whole experience - is so unique and extraordinary.

We had the most fabulous time at Porini Camp. Everyone had the most fantastic experience. Ivan and Gilly looked after us so well. It was almost like staying with very good friends! The camp facilities were excellent and we had two lovely evenings. Everyone learnt a lot with the Maasai and thoroughly enjoyed the walk. We also saw a cheetah with 5 cubs, so lovely to see them so wild. We really could not have had a better time!

We had the most wonderful safari with Anthony and Joseph, such as will make a "traffic jam" safari in the future unthinkable. We were hugely impressed with the smooth running of campsites, itineraries, boundless knowledge and enthusiasm of Anthony, and delicious meals which I would struggle to reproduce with all the aids of modern technology. Cooked breakfasts at dawn! If only this sort of efficiency and service was available in the UK!
With best wishes to all at Gamewatchers.

Your services could not be faulted and we had such a good time. Benson's meeting us etc went without a hitch. It could not have been improved. We have recommended you to our travel agent and everyone else we have met. We were delighted with your service, which made our holiday effortless.
PORINI CAMP
We loved Porini. Thought that Ivan and Gillie were such good company and their feeling for the animals was a real bonus. We thought our Maasai guide Daniel was great company and really enjoyed our walk. The only fault with Porini was that we were not there long enough as we would like to have spent at least one more night there, probably two more!

Thank you for such a wonderful and personal introduction to African wildlife. It was a perfect start to our honeymoon. You're away from the tourist trail, away from all the commercial exploitation and you gave us such an insight into the animals and the environment. Your enthusiasm and dedication to recreating an environment where the wildlife remains wild, the surrounding landscape remains untouched and the local community have a livelihood and an education, is something to be respected.

Gamewatchers Safaris
In 1998 it was to be a 'once in a lifetime' holiday to Kenya - but we are now planning our 6th visit! All thanks to the excellent, trouble free organisation by Gamewatchers. The UK Foreign Office recommends it is important to choose a reliable travel company if you intend to visit Kenya. After six holidays organised by them we believe there is no better than Gamewatchers! You can have complete faith that they will organise for you a holiday you'll remember for the rest of your life. There can be nothing more idyllic than sitting at the end of the day in the beautiful natural setting of Porini Camp under a velvet sky scattered with a myriad stars and only the sounds of the night birds disturbing the silence. Such peace has to be experienced to be believed. Gamewatchers Safaris has turned our dreams into reality in Kenya. With confidence we now look forward to our 6th visit thanks to them.

We can't think of anywhere more special that we have ever been to. The Porini Camp is a really unique place and we have the most wonderful memories of our trip. I wish we could have stayed for longer. I'll never forget the truly deafening dawn chorus and the simplicity of living there - no phones to answer, no noise at all, just nature all around.
