Nomad Tarangire is a mobile tented camp, but it won't
actually move during your stay as it's already been prepositioned before your
arrival. It settles in the remotest southern parts of the park, from which both
the game rich Tarangire river and the wilderness walking areas of the park are
equally accessible. Because of this, it offers easy game drives to the river area,
source of great game, but its also on the edge of the less traveled, less crowded,
open savannah to the south, so you can just walk out of your tent into a seemingly
private wilderness.
Accommodation
Nomad Tarangire is a small four
tents camp. The unique design of these 'Bushman meets Bedouin' tents offers comfort,
space, and light, and are designed to take full advantage of the passing breeze.
The mess and dining tent is welcoming and funky, and definitely somewhere to spend
a relaxed afternoon, either inside in the library/lounge area, or in the shade
of a tree lying in a hammock soaking up the Tarangire.
The inner bed tent
area has large comfortable beds, optional roll down canvas sides and shade netting.
The outer 'living' area is also netted with roll down sides, that can be put up
or down as you prefer.
There are kilim rugs spread over the floor, and a
screened dressing area with en-suite bathroom at the back, with flush toilets
and traditional bucket showers with hot and cold water available on demand.
Activities
Nomad
Tarangire is a small and stylish camp offering the absolute best of Tarangire;
game drives in the key game spots, and exciting walking safaris within the remote
wilderness areas of the park.
By 4WD vehicle or on foot, with your own private
guide, you'll become submerged in the landscape, with its diverse scenery and
animals, and feel a million miles away from modern life. And that is the charm
of Tarangire.
Tarangire is known for being a birders paradise, with a vast
array of different species that can be spotted. If you're looking for something
a little larger, it's also one of the best places in Tanzania to see elephants,
with herds of several hundred to be seen.
Seasons in Tarangire
It's
a year-round park with very distinct seasons offering very different experiences.
The dry season (from July to early Oct) is when thousands of animals congregate
around the Tarangire river as the park's other water sources dry up. There are
short rains in November and December which leave the park lush, green and full
of life.
