Mauritius
is located over a thousand miles from the east coast of Africa, in the
middle of the Indian Ocean. Volcanic peaks, cliffs, gorges and waterfalls,
as well as fields of sugar cane and pineapples are found in the lush green
interior, with swaying palms and white sandy beaches on the surrounding
coast. Home to many rare and exotic plants and birds, with colourful underwater
marine life on the coral reefs, this island has really been blessed by
nature.
The island is 720 square miles in size and is a unique blend of cultures
as its people are a mix of Africans, Indians, Chinese and Europeans which
is reflected in the language, religion and especially the cuisine.
Mauritius is noted for its 5 star luxury hotels and resorts, most of
which offer a full range of water sports such as water-skiing, scuba diving,
deep-sea fishing, jet skiing and even parasailing. It is an excellent
choice for a honeymoon and weddings can also be arranged for those who
wish to tie the knot on a tropical beach beside clear turquoise waters.
With no pollution, no high rise hotels and a warm welcome from the friendly,
easy-going people, Mauritius keeps visitors returning year after year.
