Animals seen in Kenyan Parks & Reserves


Animals seen in different parks:
Common herbivores like zebra, wildebeest, eland, giraffe, gazelles impala, waterbuck are easily seen in most parks.

Lions and cheetahs are present in most parks but are most easily seen in the Mara.

Leopard, although relatively common, are rarely seen as they are nocturnal. The Mara, Lake Nakuru Park and Samburu are three of the best places to see leopard.

Tsavo: Good for elephants but not as easily approachable as Amboseli.

Selenkay: Lions and cheetahs are present but not always seen.

Good for giraffes.

Good for less commonly seen animals like caracal, serval cat, African wild cat.

Also has lesser kudu, gerenuk, oryx which are not found in the Mara.

Amboseli: The best place to see elephants at close range. Lions also present.

Lake Nakuru: White rhino commonly seen, black rhino less frequently but present.

Good for seeing leopard on early morning game drives.

Samburu: Good for elephant.

Lion and cheetah present.

Leopard seen quite often.

The less common Reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra can be seen.

Mara: The best place for the big cats, especially lions.

Wildebeest migration takes place from late June to early October when these animals move into the Mara from the Serengeti in big numbers.
