Wildebeest Eco Camp is a great-value option in Nairobi for a night or two before or after your safari adventure. It offers a comfortable and much cheaper alternative to one of the city centre hotels in a safe location.
The camp is in the Langata suburb of the city and is conveniently located for Wilson airport, the starting point for all our air safaris.
Visitors to Nairobi can meet the baby elephants at the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage (from the BBC’s Elephant Diaries), hand-feed or even kiss a giraffe at the Giraffe Center, explore Nairobi National Park, see the National Museum or visit the farm of Karen Blixen, famous author of ‘Out of Africa’ that was made into a famous movie.
Guests can purchase souvenirs nearby at the Masai Market or dine at one of the many great restaurants in Nairobi – including the world famous “Carnivore” (ask us for details!).

Accommodation
There are various accommodation options at Wildebeest Eco Camp. We particularly recommend the Deluxe Cottage Rooms or Deluxe Safari Tents.
Garden Tents & Deluxe Safari Tents
The furnished, permanent-pitch tents are a unique ‘under-canvas’ experience and offer an alternative to a hotel room. They have one double bed or two single beds, sprung mattress, cotton bedding, blanket or duvet, pillow, bath towel, luggage rack, bedside table, electronic safe, mosquito proof netting on windows and doors and full electrics (lights and UK power sockets).
Some Garden Tents have access to the shared flush toilets and hot showers which are located in the garden. Other Garden Tents are now en suite with private bathroom (different rate levels reflect this).
The Deluxe Safari Tents are en suite with their own private facilities and also feature an outdoor deck with two chairs.
A Family Garden Tent sleeps 1 to 4 guests (one double bed and two single beds) and also has en suite facilities and an outdoor deck with two chairs – prices on request.
Cottage Room & Deluxe Cottage Rooms
The Cottage Rooms and Deluxe Cottage Rooms are located at the front of the property separate from the main house. These comfortable, homely rooms are nestled together in a set of six facing the garden. Each cottage features one double bed, sprung mattress and cotton bedding, pillow and duvet, mosquito net, luggage rack, electronic safe and en suite facilities (flush toilet, basin and solar hot showers).
For those who are on a tight budget – or for a large group – there is a shared 6-bed Dorm or camping options (with or without equipment hire) – please contact us for details.
Eco Initiatives
Wildebeest Eco Camp have invested heavily to ensure that the environmental footprint of the camp and their guests is minimised. They have adopted an ethos of ‘avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle’ across all operations, and have many ways
that they support and assist the local community including:
– water treatment and recycling plant to treat grey water
– water harvesting and storage
– solar lights across much of the camp
– solar hot water
– planting hundreds of native plants to encourage birds and butterflies
– supporting local small businesses through consistent business
– employing all Kenyan staff including those from marginalised tribes
– gift shop supporting local craft groups
– encouraging tourism to other organisations that also support eco-tourism
